It's crazy the Hawks of now are competing with the Hawks of the 80's. Two of the greatest eras from the one club. I think we can have another era within the next 15-20 years if these current champs get back to the club after they retire.

Hawks have overcome way more obstacles than the lions ever did, lost buddy, roughhead got Ill twice, coach missed games with illness, assistant coaches got poached during finals, Brett ratten had family tragedy. I think lions just had aker too deal with off field, and travelling to the G.

If the afl moved the grand final from strictly being at the G to all over the country would that play a part?

Premierships alone are hard to win, everything has to go right at crucial moments during the season. The competition is so tight now aswell.

It's an awesome comparison. Hawks only lost by 10 against the swans in 2012, Brisbane lost by a fair amount to Port Adelaide in 2004. Brisbane had stars all over the ground though. Hopefully the Hawks don't fall off the cliff like the lions did.
