Well... we never do it easy do we. I don’t know if it’s game plan or just a young team out of gas or a mix of both.
What I know is we have Melbourne, GWS, and Hawthorne in the next month. Finals footy has started early ladies and gents.
Out: Newman
Gee he really has regressed hasn’t he? I remember people on here touted him as the next McVeigh. Turns it over more often than not. Barely hits a target anymore. Last year I thought he had a great kick on him.
He really frustrated me on the weekend (well they all did) but I just...
Not sure if he’s been mentioned tonight, but I thought Harry Marsh had a really good game tonight. Took some good intercept marks, was clean disposal. This defence is quite the unit.
I note that it says hip/groin with the knee injuries he’s had he would’ve had to build up the use of his hip muscles and groin. Might be having strains if the area hasn’t fully developed again.
N.B I’m no expert, just had a serious knee op and asked the physio about my injury and Johnson’s.
I don’t really keep up with the reserves, is there anyone who can come in for Reid as a like for like? Our structure was good last week, we need to emulate it, not play around it.
I’m surprised at some of the negative comments in this thread. I actually thought we played quite well. Granted the skills weren’t always pristine but the change of gameplan was very refreshing.
Hopefully it wasn’t just a one off and we can play this style from here on out.
Fumbles, kicks to no one, handballs to no one just about sums this game up. I actually thought we were pretty decent in the first 2 quarters, pressure was there, had some nice passages of play, didn’t really impact the scoreboard but you generally thought we were in control.
Our ground level...
Surely the coaches can see we look like absolute dog shit when bombing it long. We’ve shown tonight we can play short lead up football. Want to see more of it.
Otherwise good first up win. Remember away from home, in a new stadium with a hyped up crowd. Take it and run.
The biggest gripe I’ve always had is that everyone flies for the ball leaving space behind. Bar once or twice we don’t seem to be doing this as much. The pressure has been immense. Hopefully they can keep it up.
Good hit out for the boys. As others have mentioned, we were irresistible in spells, moving the ball quickly and accurately but then going back to bombing it blind in other patches.
A main issue I saw was when the pressure was turned up a notch we started the crumble. If these players can work...
While I agree with that last sentiment, I don't think this will do too much damage. We've had nigh on 3 months of finals like pressure games. I think this kind of game was well overdue. Players not too banged up but general intensity was good all day bar that 3rd quarter.
This story is the best. Not only do we share the same name *straightens tie* haha, I'm also trying to get back into sport after a what the surgeon called a significant knee operation. This guy is an absolute inspiration. Hope he can get back in the first team next year.
The saltiness from the bombers fans with regard to the Rohan's mark. "He threw him out of the way". Seriously? Both players were holding on, Rohan with superior strength got rid of his opponent, that's footy. Not to mention Gleeson had Rohan's arm pinned behind his back, so really it was six in...
In Heeney and Hayward we are going to have 2 absolute guns on our hands in a few years. To be fair, Heeney is already a gun. Maturity and composure beyond his years.
I was messaging my mate asking how long left and when we got that last behind I messaged if there was enough time for an attack. The rest, as they say, is history. Hard to tell how long left at the ground.
Apart from some absolute idiotic frees. We would have been a lot closer. We looked a lot better that qtr. Players getting more free. Just some bloody composure needed.
Mills and saints player both go hard at the ball, all you hear is the saints will lift after that, even though mills stays on the field and the saints player is gone
