List Mgmt. 2023 Draft Thread - Part I

I think we should be having a serious look at boosting our ruck stocks. With this in mind we might have a good chance of picking up Wil Green, a 204 cm ruckman from the Northern Knights or maybe Mitch Edwards from WA who is apparently even taller at 206 cm. Rowan Marshall had a great season last...

List Mgmt. 2022 Draft Thread - Part I

Thought I would add my comment that we have absolutely nailed this draft and in my view it's the best we have done in years. We have continued from last year with a higher focus on youth, culminating now with a group of young players all with huge potential. So pleased with what we have done in...

I live in Queensland and when I do get to go to a game of AFL footy, more often than not I go to a Gold Coast Suns match. Witnessing a Gold Coast Suns game live at Metricon Stadium is nothing like witnessing a game in Victoria or even the Gabba for that matter. When you go there you just know...

Analysis Where are we actually at as a club?

I believe we really stuffed up last years trade and draft period and it started when we passed on a number of still available picks in last years main draft and also the rookie draft. Instead we recruited the likes of James Frawley, Shaun McKernan, Paul Hunter and Mason Wood and all four of...

Analysis Saints Footy - what is it and what do we want it to be?

Good point and I hadn't considered this. We need to follow the lead of some of these other clubs and have Sandringham more competative, at least so as our feeder club has a wider group of players capable of playing effectively at AFL level.

    List Mgmt. Dan Hannebery - 5 year deal & Pick 28 to St.Kilda for Pick 39 & 2019 2nd Round Pick

Yeah, this was a shocker and I can remember it as a young bloke. From memory it was a straight swap between Richmond and St Kilda and we got Billy Barrot and Richmond got Ian Stewart. Bustling Billy Barrot as he was known was a flamboyant sort of character whose claim to fame was a booming kick...

Analysis Saints Footy - what is it and what do we want it to be?

Have to agree with this, regarding Sandringham. It's my understanding they won their last premiership in 2006 and in 2009 they aligned with St Kilda and it would appear that from this time they have been a weaker club, with maybe the odd competative year or two before falling away again. Why is...

    Autopsy Round 3, 2021: Essendon v St.Kilda *STEELE 100TH* *CLARK 50TH* *CROUCH DEBUT*

And why wasn't Carlisle selected for the first two matches? I just don't understand this, especially considering we missed him badly when he couldn't play in the final against Richmond last year. Carlisle is good in the air and he provides good support for Howard when the two of them are in the...

    Autopsy Round 2, 2021: St.Kilda v Melbourne *SPUD'S GAME* *SINCLAIR 100TH*

I can't recall a game where St Kilda or any side for that matter, has been so comprehensively beaten in the ruck as we were last night. Sure, we certainly played badly and we should have lost by more, but Gawn just killed us in the ruck contests and around the ground. Even when he wasn't in the...

I was at Moorabbin when Carl played in his first game against Melbourne. He bobbed up everywhere and it was if he was marking his own kick at times. He was a sensation in the media for the rest of the week, where he first earned the nickname the "Blonde Bombshell". There was another bloke who...

    Preview Round 7, 2020: Adelaide v St.Kilda - Adelaide Oval, Monday 20th July, 7:40PM AEST *BYRNES DEBUT*

I don't see where this ("It wasn't his job to be sighted") should be the role of the captain of a side. It's my view that a captain should be an inspiration to a side and a player who can win the ball and be creative with it. Geary does not tick this box unfortunately.

    Preview Round 7, 2020: Adelaide v St.Kilda - Adelaide Oval, Monday 20th July, 7:40PM AEST *BYRNES DEBUT*

"Geary was a huge reason why we beat Carlton". In a word, NO. Yes Geary scored the two goals early in the game for which he deserves some credit, but for the rest of the match he was hardly sighted. He was poor against Fremantle on Saturday and on recent form he should be dropped. Agree that he...

Opinion Who should be captain 2020 poll

I think it is imperative that we replace Geary as captain this year. Geary is more of a dour defender type without being brilliant and can be poor with his disposal at times. It's time to replace him with a player who will get more of the football and contribute more to the side. Seb Ross seemed...

    List Mgmt. 2019 Trade Thread

Great post and agree entirely. When we had King and Gardiner it was the last time we were able to consistently win in the ruck and it nearly won us a flag in 2009 when we lost to Geelong. Yes, Marshall has improved out of site this year, but it's a big ask to have him carry our ruck...

    Preview Round 10, 2019: St.Kilda v Carlton - Marvel Stadium, Sunday 26th May, 3:20PM AEST

Isn't it about time we identified that Marshall needs a little help in the ruck? Although brave against Grundy, by the 4th quarter he was struggling and I think this was significant with Collingwood able to run all over us in the last quarter. Grundy is arguably the best ruckman in the...

I just feel we have to bring Longer (or Pierce) into the team to support Marshall. We know that Hawthorn are going to have two rucks in Ceglar and McEvoy (they nearly always play two rucks which says something!!!!!!) and the thought of seeing Acres or Bruce up against either of these two is...
