I would personally prefer us to be trying to develop a game plan for the future - losing by 6 goals doesn’t bother me if we are developing. At the moment these kids are learning a game plan that we know is not going to get us anywhere long term. We haven’t bottomed out yet
So this is what it’s come to. Play the ugliest slowest defensive shut down footy that you can and then hope you’re close enough to do a Steve Bradbury and steal a win. Might work one week in six. Bucks trying to keep his job whilst this club wallows in mediocrity. When honorable losses become...
Next week will be interesting. The other night Carlton played bold fast footy and really took it up to the best side in the comp. Their 25pt loss was much better than the rubbish we dished up last night. Dogs kick 3 early ones and straight away we shut it down and back into our ugly slow game...
If we ever want to be like them we need a massive change to our culture and a complete rebuild of our list. They have 30 blokes who look like they are just best mates and put the club first. Our best players get paid way too much for what they’ve achieved. Grundy and JDG are good examples, even...
Not correct, they were decimated mid year in 2019 and again this year. It’s their incredible depth that makes them very good and their medical people seem to be able to get them all back for finals. Combined with Houli and Edwards who stayed in Melb, they lost Astbury, Grimes, Prestia, Cotchin...
The gap between a good game and a poor game from our best players is just massive. Take out Adams and Pendles, but when JDG, Stevo, Moore, Treloar, WHE, Elliot, Grundy, Mayne have bad games they don’t give us much at all. How can we have a salary cap issue ??Then our bottom 6 and lack of depth...
Expect we will beat Port Monday. They will be happy to lose to us because they probably prefer to get Richmond to Adelaide in first week of finals rather than Geelong. If that happens they avoid Richmond in a prelim.
Their depth is unbelievable - got ravaged with injuries last year and again this year but they just have a lot of no names who come in and do a job. When we lose key players to injury our players ranked 16 - 25 on our list just aren’t at the same level as the stronger clubs
Draw is ok. We have to beat the good sides to make top 4 anyway, so bring it on. Could easily win 1 out of 2 v WC and Bris and should handle Bombers ok. Don’t mind losing to Tigers twice as long as we get a crack at them in a final.
It doesn’t matter whether we ‘won or lost’ the trade. We have a quality player who loves the club and that is massive for us right now. He may not have turned out to be a true elite midfielder and his disposal can be average. And at Collingwood we do have a tendency to overrate our list. But he...
I think there probably isn’t too much difference between the strong clubs in what they pay their top 6 etc. But where I think we stuff up is paying overs for our mid and lower end players.
Eagles and Tigers have massive depth on their lists down to player no. 27 or 28. We just don’t bat deep...
Going into GF as underdogs will suit us. We are a genuine chance of upsetting them. But this crap about having their number and ninthmond rubbish etc, please give it a rest. They are the standout side of the comp and stood up last night with a few blokes hurt. If we bring our best performance...
Agree with you there, I’m sure our boys don’t obsess about the opposition as much as we do. Richmond are the benchmark of the comp last few years and WCE are not far behind. At our best we can cause an upset against either in a GF so we have a chance. I’m more worried about putting in a shocker...
Keep
I’m looking for positives here but some supporters posting about our injuries need to be realistic too. They had massive injuries for the first half of the season but the depth of their list got them through. We just don’t have that depth. They had 6 of their premiership side out tonight...
Good to see the membership tally starting to climb - all going well we should top the 80,000 mark. I still don't agree with the discounting and half price stuff which came too late for me because I'd already signed up, but it seems to have helped boost our numbers at least
Haha - best therapy is just don't visit their board.... I actually enjoy the fact that all the other teams dislike Collingwood so much - makes us stronger don't you think? - but sadly - whether you like it or not, Richmond ARE one of the big boys..
That’s all ok in terms of history. But I don’t see their membership decreasing by 50% any time soon. If we are as big as we think, we should be increasing our membership by 50%, not hoping that theirs goes down
Don’t
Dont worry about journo crap - they are just obsessed with Richmond. When we win a flag we will get a lot more members signing up and will go past 100k members too. Adelaide count you if you sign up to a newsletter and we have been flogging heavily discounted memberships to get our...
Good luck to everyone taking advantage of the saving here. Just wish I had waited to buy my membership and my two kids - its pretty unfair to people like me that did this. I reckon the club is trying to get their membership numbers up just to compete with Richmond, but this is not really the...
I don't get this obsession with other teams (especially Richmond) - but I AM pretty new to Big Footy so I must be missing something.
Our team has earnt a lot of respect this season and in Grand Final from opposition supporters which is the only consolation I have from from Saturday, so why...
Not sure I agree with you here. Eagles have won the flag and proven themselves the best side. Richmond finished on top two games and a stack of percentage clear of second with a much tougher draw than us. And Melbourne are emerging fast. We just need to keep improving and we will overtake them...
This hurts much more. I stupidly got too chirpy last week and after a few beers went pretty hard at a few Richmond supporters and was probably not a very gracious winner. And boy have they come hard for me last night.. They are a mean vindictive lot, a lesson learnt the hard way..Hurts big time now.
We should be locked into top 4 for next few years now. Even allowing for the tougher draw we will get next year. Finish top 4 consistently and have some luck and we will win one, or more! - Disappointed but very very proud.
Can’t see where any new challengers are coming, other than Melbourne...
reckon GWS can beat tigers. They experienced 100,000 fans in the prelim last year and will e better this time and have the most talented list in the AFL. Don’t know if they can handle the massive pressure of richmond. At full strength we will get closer too
Should just worry about our boys and be happy we are on the rise and enjoy the ride. The preoccupation and slagging off at Richmond all the time is just embarrassing. They are the benchmark are whoever beats them wins the flag..
Cruelled by injuries yes, but let’s give up the squealing about umps, they are a pretty decent side and have beaten us twice this year. They get the least frees of any team in the AFL and give away the most - don’t look at the frees ladder, we are on top I think !
