Yep you did, my mistake, so apologies for that. Maynard has gone backwards this year. I thought Mayne was our best.

Mayne being our best is a Worry as have lot better players in the Side

He's been playing in the backline in the VFL of late. It seems to have improved his attack on the ball/contest. Has been getting his hands dirty instead of trying to get the 'Joe the goose' goals.

Correct, and that’s what we drafted him for.

Daicos and IQ both kicked backwards to put their teammates under pressure in the 1st. We did the same thing last week, this is a coaching issue IMO. Yes, it's the players making those decisions on the field but this is the type of play they are being instructed to execute.

A switch in play relies on four key things in order to work:

i) Opposition forwards have been sucked towards the skinny side further up the ground

ii) A free team mate (Player B) who is a good penetrating kick for the initial sideways / backwards option.

iii) A 2-on-1 overlap situation on the opposite half back flank (players C and D)

iv) Players B and C (the target who peels off the back side of the overlap towards the half back flank) are quick and accurate enough with their kicking to get it to player D on the other side of the overlap in space with no defensive pressure coming. All kicks need to be quick and with penetration / accuracy, as high floaters just give the opposition time to shift across.

Now how often do you see all four of these things happen when we switch? More often than not our switches fall over at step i) or ii), which means they are not a switch at all, rather they are nothing more than an easy out for the player who initially has the ball at half back that essentially sells out a team mate further behind the play, hoping they'll somehow be able to do something better from a far worse position on the ground.

So not Bucks then?

I would assume that the players probly wouldn't hear bucks screaming for the box, and hence it was up to Maxy (I believe) to be yelling out.

FWIW I'm slightly on the bucks out side, though not as much as others, but think our recruiting and salary cap management have been a much bigger issue than game plan.

I would like to see Cameron in the first ruck spot for a few weeks. I think he is more useful around the ground with his strong marking and the team performed better without Grundy. Bring Cox in as 2nd ruck/forward.
we need to pump up cox’s trade value, I’d play him as first ruck to see how he goes.

Very odd game with the last quarter being a positive. Only one goal up until 3QT, but we managed to only lose by 10 points in the end.

Bianco was great on his debut. JDG was solid in the second half.

Still a lot of fundamental issues plague the team, but that won’t change for a while.

Hope Grundy is okay after sustaining a neck injury.
Looked more like a collar bone or AC joint.

Seconding this.

A couple of things and obviously I'm not a coach or strategist, but why are so many people in here criticising the game plan? The game style was awful to watch, but I dare say it was thought to be the only way we could keep them to a low score and give ourselves a chance to kick a superior one. I call that sensible coaching. So far this ugly style has prevented us from being embarrassed like St.Kilda was last week. I'm sticking with my glass half full.

The Cats only played as well as we allowed them to. I don’t think the gulf was what the commentators were carrying on about - I think the commentary was very reactive to the scoreboard.

A very uncontested game, but I thought our ball use was much better than usual, and continued and improved when we ramped up our aggression and tried to bridge the gap.

But makes us Worse and no Development for Younger Players.

Bucks only doing it to Try Save his Job but making things Worse not Better

No Plan for Future

Dave - we have blooded and actually found more kids who will slot into our best 22, than any single season in Bucks’ career.
So lighten up.

Agree about commentators. I thought it was a very even contest bar the 2nd QTR which Geelong got on top. We just shot ourselves in the foot with turnover and forward 50 bombs as well as shocking missed shots.

I loved Bianco's knock down then kick to Darcy's advantage which showed he's a real talented kick. I also really like Poulter starting to show a bit of mongrel, he will be a gem with more confidence and frame. Jordy is often criticised but his field kicking is actually very good and he takes the game on in the middle. I am impressed with Murphy's courage and actually see signs that Cameron will be a player in the near future.

+1

Looking at the player's decision making and confidence the benefit of a coaching reset if done well is clear to me.

By the same token the decreased output of Pendles and Sidebottom (he was better today), the fall of WHE and Thomas from the heights of 2018, the player firesale, injuries... the list goes on.

It's too lazy to blame it all on the coach.

Hopefully the unnecessary hysteria about Bianco being selected ‘in a pocket’ is over! Bucks copping a whack about a Thursday night team lol, Surely we have enough to worry about (like Madge forward) than who is named where on the ground on a Thursday night. Can never understand why so many people who obviously follow footy closely dont know that the actual teams are out an hour before the game. Anyway kids are going ok, all we can do is pump games in and hopefully compete well.

He was given a good crack although kinda forced it with his attack on the ball q1. Feel like Rantall though got the pocket treatment.
