The Taz trade 1 season on

I dare say that the reason the deal went through from our point of view was to get pick 8 and therefore Reid meaning Medhurst was the bonus. Reid will be everything Tarrant was/is but better.

    VFL list announced

I saw the practice game in Hobart on the weekend and got a first hand glimpse at a few of these guys. Pendles' older brother is a dead ringer for him. Spent time on a HBF and a wing. Moves similarily to Scott and has many of the same traits. Justin Crow is a ruckman, well built too. Was he...

    Ben Johnson

He played the VFL practice game on the weekend against Tassie. Went OK, you could tell he was a class above most of the other players out there. Kicked two great goals on the run from 50 within the space of a minute.

    Collingwood VFL vs Tasmania

You'd expect at least two of them play, all pushing for a senior berth in round one. Any word of whether or not Dyas is playing?

    Collingwood VFL vs Tasmania

I heard the same thing form a bloke at work, I think he read it in today's Herald Sun...

    Nick Maxwell ...

The Bruiser. Next club captain IMO:thumbsu:

    Leon Davis' Position

When you're as good around the goals as Leon is it can be a waste of his talent to play him up the ground. That said it is good to get him involved in the midfield rotations as he has that speed, flair and class that we can lack on occasions.

Pre-season will unveil next leader: Maxwell

Maxwell will only get better too. Don't worry, he'll do us all proud WHEN he is made captain. For all those are doubting his potential capacity to captain the club, look at Tom Harley. Just for the record I called this last year haha. :D

    2003 Draft - worst ever ?

haha, yeah he kicked 10 on debut for North Hobart seniors at 16 yo. Didn't do much else by the sounds of it.

    You're giving me a migraine...

Nicest player you have ever met past and present

Spot on. Me and a few mates where in melbourne for a school footy trip and we were in the audience for that show Rex Hunt used to host on Sunday mornings. Anyway, after the show Dipper came and talked to us for a fair while and was really genuine and was only to happy sign autographs and chat...

    NT AFL team?

Tassie's population is around 500,000 mate, check your facts. A footy mad state with the best regional sporting stadium in Australia too. That said, we'll be lucky to see an AFL side in Tassie in my lifetime.

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

Crows will be good next year, they needed to refresh their list and have done it so far in the trade. Is Trent 'potential' Hentschel on track for round 1 08?

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

It certainly doesn't make you destined for the spoon, I know many Essendon fans in the know who are not one bit happy with Knights' appointment. I'm by no means writing him off, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bucks played 5 games this year pal, hasn't been our best player since 03. The baton has...

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

1 - new coach who is unproven 2 - best player and spiritual leader has retired 3 - lack of 24 - 29 yo players

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

Whatever helps you sleep at night. This is a serious question, when has Scott Lucas actually been AA?

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

Ooh did someone get upset because his side was criticised. You are set for a very long spell at the foot of the ladder my friend. Your best players, let's say Fletcher, Lloyd, Lucas &...ummm are past their best. My point is there is zero depth at Essendon, worst midfield by a mile. I've made...

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

Hmmm yeah I forgot that only KPP forwards could win B&Fs! Get a clue mate.

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

O'Bree would be a walk up starter at Windy Hill and you know it, Toovey debuted this year so I don't know what you expect from him. As for Richards and Bryan, well...I've got nothing there. A recently retired guy in his mid 30s won your B&F, a 20 yo CHF won Collingwoods. Now that says...

North will play finals, Thommo your best player in my eyes.

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

Good work, the stats I couldn't be bothered looking up prove my point, thanks.

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

Jason Cloke was good as a spare man in defense, anyone can do it. Not saying Fletcher isn't a good player, just not god's gift which every bombers fan thinks he is.

    Justin Westhoff VS Paddy Ryder

Tough one, Ryder can play in the ruck and KPP but Westhoff impressed me more this season. Both have huge upside but Westhoff gets my nod by a whisker.

recently we have drafted well, when have we traded well?

Thomas and Pendlebury in the same draft hasn't paid off has it?
  26. N

If Carlton took Gibbs to the trade table...

Example: Pendlebury taken at pick 5, Murphy at pick 1. Pendlebury finishes runner up in the B&F at a top 4 club and tears opposition midfields apart. Point made. :thumbsu:
  27. N

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

Hardly 4 players who are in AA form of late. Fletcher the only player that got near it. This is what is wrong with Essendon. The top echelon was pretty good (was; now that Hird has retired) but after the best 4 or 5 players there is a huge void in class and talent. Guys like Johnson x 2, Cole...

Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

If they kick 80 goals I'll take your mother out for a nice seafood dinner. Fletcher is ridiculously overrated, third man up anyone? MM stinks Ryder had a good start but faded. All stink bar Stanton. Yawn... Dons for the spoon in 3 of the next 5 years including 2008

Will Collingwood keep Malthouse after next year if they do not win a premiership?

I think you'll find most Pies supporters couldn't be happier with this decision. The boys love playing for him and most of them have only been coached by Mick at AFL level.
  30. N

Greg Swann - Is he getting too personal?

Just goes to show what happens when you pay blokes under the table. Also drafting Teague, McGrath, Martyn etc doesn't help! And you can add Josh Kennedy to that list too, taken at pick 4. Meanwhile Scott Pendlebury taken at pick 5 has just finished second in the B&F at a top 4 club. Ouch!!!:D
