Who will win the wooden spoon in 2008

Funny to see how we will go with our best forward back in the team, and our best defender able to play in position.

I don't think we'll win a flag, but to those who aren't Hawks supporters, would you mind explaining why you think the Roos will get the spoon?

North will play finals, Thommo your best player in my eyes.

bombers have the longest active run without ever having finished bottom of the vfl/afl, i don't think they've won a spoon since the 30's

TBH i would rather they finish 14th and not get the number 1 or the power of the PSD than the spoon

Trust a Crow supporter to come up with such rubbish :thumbsu:

Whats the matter, cant handle people mentioning the Crows for the spoon?
was said with tougue in cheek....more a wish:p

Seriously I doubt either SA club would finish dead last. Port will finish below Crows though. Aging KPPs lacking a backline and overrated youngsters, Hoff has been found out. Port had an ounce of luck year this year and took all of their chances, wont happen next year.

The only difference between Port and Adelaide this year, Port won the close games. Hawks, Geelong, WCE final. Take those wins away and it would of been a different season. Whereas we lost to Freo Saints Essendon and Hawks (final) by under a goal...

We will stumble into the 8, but wont be a threat. We were written off this year and chastised for having a bad year but in reality lost games by less than a goal and biggest losing margin around 6 goals to the Premier.

Richmond have a mortgage on it.

Hardly 4 players who are in AA form of late. Fletcher the only player that got near it.

This is what is wrong with Essendon. The top echelon was pretty good (was; now that Hird has retired) but after the best 4 or 5 players there is a huge void in class and talent.

Guys like Johnson x 2, Cole, Bradley & Johns illustrate just how poor the Dons' list is.

Hardwick only missed out on the job because he actually told the board that he thought the list was rubbish.

Dons to win the spoon in 08, mark my words.
That is an easy arguement to make. eg: Toovey, Richards , Bryan and O'Bree illustrate just how bad the pies list is:rolleyes:.

We have 10 regular players who have played 20-80 games and this is where our improvement is going to come from. We are still vunerable if our KPP go down but we are a lot better off in this regard than we were in 2006.

There's a ladder prediction thread on the Carlton board

BTW: This should really have had a poll

pav gets injured = fremantle

teams in contention that will tank: carlton, richmond, melbourne, kangaroos
teams in contention that won't tank: bulldogs, essendon

the chad picks: fremantle
Disagree on your tanking tips.
Carlton, Richmond, and Melbourne (to a lesser extend) tanked this year as soon as it was clear they wouldn't make it
Next year, expect them to be trying to instill a "winning culture" at the club

Expect the teams on the bottom after 6 rounds to start tanking
No team will tank from the start of the season

Yes and the Pies had 8 players 21 or under stand up in three tough finals games. They ahave already proven they can handle the heat, can the Dons. 12th, 15th and 13th would suggest no.

O'Bree would be a walk up starter at Windy Hill and you know it, Toovey debuted this year so I don't know what you expect from him. As for Richards and Bryan, well...I've got nothing there.

A recently retired guy in his mid 30s won your B&F, a 20 yo CHF won Collingwoods. Now that says something. ;)

if carlton or richmond is 1-5 after round six there is no way they will win more than 4 games for the season

same goes for melbourne if they're 2-7 after round 9

Comment on Essendon's list when you get a clue. Your ill-informed remarks are laughable.

Fletcher didn't get near it, he got it. So did Lucas. By the way, they (Lucas and Lloyd) kicked 120+ goals this season and they'll do it again. Mark my words.

A lot of our best 22 would walk straight into your team.

Guys like Johnson x2, Cole, Bradley, Johns struggled to make our best 22 this year, what's your point?

We still have obvious deficiencies but we're not a spoon side, you can count on that.

O'Bree lol...try again

A 20 yo CHF winning your B&F says you have no other quality KPP forwards

But we are talking about avoiding the spoon here. There is no reason why any of these players can't improve. There is also a chance that a few of the 9 non-established players from the last two drafts can step up.

If your team had any decent senior players we wouldn't of seen half of those debuts. Fortunately for your kids, they swam and swam fast.

If Essendon didn't have Lloyd, Lucas, Fletcher we'd have to automatically play the likes of Gumbleton, Neagle etc

Hmmm yeah I forgot that only KPP forwards could win B&Fs!

Get a clue mate.

I've got a clue. Not doubting Trav's ability but when 20 year old KPP start winning your B&F's you seriously have to start wondering about the quality of your senior players.

Regarding Essendon, you have no clue.
