The umpires keep their own stats which are independent of either club. You would probably find that the umpires are as consistent this year as they have been since they brought 3 in (around 1994 I think). The umpires rarely affect the outcome of a game. It's player decision making or skill...

You need to read a rule book. There is no such rule as dropping the ball. It is either holding the ball or incorrect disposal.
