If you thought before you typed, then you would know my reference to the word "lucky" was sarcastic. Obviously no luck was involved on the day.
And just because I'm a Saints supporter or whatever supporter, doesn't mean I can't talk about Premierships. So get over your inferiorty complex.
Hawthorn is so much better than Geelong because:
(1) They beat Geelong in the 1989 GF
(2) They have beaten Geelong in the last three encounters
- but don't mention 2004 and 2005 where Geelong won by 56 points and 55 points
I see Big Ronnie has been Red Carded.
What a shame.
Was waiting to see what his comeback was going to be.
A lot of anti-hawthorn threads happening. Why?
Wonder who's being evasive now?
Fine. Since the century before last century...1800's:
Saints 71 : Western Bulldogs (Footscray) 68.
Happy? Any other minor details you want to bring up? :D
Don't know who's being evasive. If the last 27 years isn't good enough for you then so be it. Results since 1980 since be good enough since a lot of Hawthorn supporters constantly bring up this era.
I don't feel the need to justify myself since this thread is about Geelong and Hawthorn.
But since you're a Hawthorn supporter, I'll give you an example:
Since 1980, Saints 26 - Richmond 21.
And while we're at it, this millenium : Saints 6 : Hawthorn 4. :D
Another batch of bitter Hawks!
Geelong vs. Hawthorn:
Played 139
Geelong 72
Hawthorn 66
Draw 1
It will be at least next decade before anything changes.
Yeah, definitely in the top 8 highest scoring teams this year which was a good effort.
Without a doubt Geelong's forward line is the most flexible. I like the look of Hawthorn's too with Franklin, Roughead, Boyle, Dixon and Hodge. Can swap in Williams for Dixon and a couple of smaller...
I noticed this in the Souvenir Book regarding overall stats for Geelong vs Hawthorn:
Played 139
Won 72
Lost 66
Drawn 1
But true that Hawthorn has the wood over Geelong in recent years. Those close games are a killer Catsace - 1 kick in it!
Exactly. But Pies supporters took it a step further based on the results of Port losing by so much. So they're assuming that they would have won the GF too, hence 5 points away from winning a GF :D
I wouldn't mind putting a wager on them to make the 8. Not so sure about the flag though :)
But a note about Gehrig, it was becoming more obvious that he was going to retire as the season progressed. He only made an impact in a handful of games and as harsh as it may sound, it was almost like...
1995. Carlton finishing 1st and Geelong 2nd at the end of the H&A season. Grand Final result was quite lopsided but Geelong would have beaten Carlton in Round 11 (?). But Ablett played on after marking directly in front and ball was touched by SOS. I think they were the highest scoring team that...
What I meant was Cousins' timing couldn't have been worse if at all! And yes, it is the off season, so these blokes should have been able to enjoy their trip.
:thumbsu: Throw in Selwood as well and this team can run all day.
edit: And there's Kelly as well. Probably not as quick but can still hold his own in the midfield.
Not going to use the injuries as an excuse but hopefully they'll get a better run in 2008.
I'l be happy if they can get a spot in the 8 and improve on that the following year.
Not a big fan of Mick, Christie is a different story though! :p
But on a serious note, it would be "slanderous" to suggest that he had anything to do with the situation there. Ben is responsible for his own behaviour and he's obviously not doing well at all.
Are his folks still in Geelong or...
Losing Judd and Cousins is massive. And as good as West Coast are, I don't think even they can cover the loss of these two players. Kerr is good, but alongside Judd and Cousins, it lifts him up a couple of notches.
It's never good when someone of Cousins calibre is lost to the game.
A bit...
