Question for the general audience - how does pick trading work on draft night, can it happen any time? Or is it board game rules where only on your pick?
Okay, let's talk quality of priority picks.
North have been given three end of first round picks in 2023/2024 alone.
Richmond was given one end of first round pick in 2017, who was a good selection, but in quality of assistance, it's not comparable.
Ignoring the fact he only played in one of...
Mate you conveniently haven't responded to my question, how else did Richmond benefit from priority picks outside Rance?
Are you referring to the 2004 draft?
Who are you referring to?
No comment on North's draft hand. Only here to make a comment on Richmond's priority pick history.
From my understanding, it is a stretch to say Richmond's flags were built on priority picks. Our draft hands were more impacted by Carlton and Melbourne's priority picks. Only priority pick I can...
Yes thank you for correcting - 3 clubs holding 8 of the first 11.
Looking through those examples, 2017 is the dynamic that's most reflective of this year with freo and carlton having multiple picks split and saints with 7/8 again. Twomey was quite off with his phantom that year (6/10, 7/20)...
2010 and 2011 were effectively monopolies of GC/GWS picks, little risk of things leaking.
2012 GWS had the first three picks, and the dogs two picks were together, you only had one Melbourne pick in between.
This year we have had no certainty beyond a seeming consensus on Lalor at pick one...
Three clubs hold the top 11 picks, all them are reliant on each other not finding out who they want. When have we had that dynamic before to this extent? (Genuine question)
Add a lack of a clear top 6 in addition to that, and you have a recipe for silence.
The only Intel that's getting out...
Why do you think I'm saying you're wrong?
I'm not saying he won't succeed, I'm saying he's not 100% a successful pick without consecutive full seasons.
If you quote me in a couple of years to gloat, I'll be happy for Riley, whilst also still being confused why I'm the enemy here.
Of course not, but I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt there.
He played seven games in a season. A successful key forward plays more than seven games. He's only gotten through one full season.
A lot of the time it isn't a question of talent, but whether or not they can stay on the park.
