WSYD AFL gains ground in Sydney's greater west

Hilarious that Rugby isn't even on. Love the imaginary "regional ratings" http://www.ourguide.com.au/WebPages/NSW_WaggaWagga_20100702.html Wagga Wagga guide probably shows it South Coast NSW and Wagga etc has AFL live

WSYD AFL gains ground in Sydney's greater west

Quarter of a million live in the Riverina. They are predominantly AFL followers, as is Broken Hill & region. I love how Rugby supporters claim all of NSW & Regional QLD are Rugby followers when it is patently obvious they are not. Nor is the ACT, which has one of the strongest regional AFL comps...

The Haters Of The AFL Respond

Most of the great sporting competitions in the world, the ones that draw the crowds, V viewing and passion are domestic competitions. NFL, EPL, AFL. In the scheme of things international football comps are relatively small I am a nut for footy, but not sport, NFL is the only other football...

    Conference System

I am not sure we should have the week off for XMAS. We could cancel the boxing day test and Boxing day could be a real draw card. Teams could get new players in a Kris Kringle on XMAS day, the could be revealed in the game boxing day. We could put Ed BArlow into the Kris Kringle

    Conference System

So 1 The draw needs to be done for the entire year. Usually I travel interstate a few times a year, you look at the draw and decide & book months in advance. Very difficult with no draw in advance - do I book now or wait for better games? Every team needs to play every other team once. If...

Why $1 billion is a real possibility

Yep - the winners would be Freo who would have more Marquee games. Pavlich, Ballantyne & Stephan Hill would be bigger stars than they are if it wasn't only Foxtel subscribers who could watch AFL has many of it's top games during the day, maximises crowds, limits ratings. Imagine the ratings...

Why $1 billion is a real possibility

Roy Roy Masters http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/fox-holds-all-the-aces-in-new-tv-deal-20100618-ymr0.html He struggles to understand how a senior corporate would think about the problem, seems to think corporate world is like Rugby but just played with money, whereas...

Gold Coast Vs Coburg (Karmichael Hunt Debut) Discussion Thread

Things to get used to - you do not realise how much courage it takes to put your head over the footy until you watch someone for whom it is not instinctual The mark and handball up in the first quarter was sublime though. When he learns the game he should be better Funny though that to every...

WSYD Showgrounds gets go ahead for redevelopment

The colonists generally live in a dreamworld. I love how they are an 'International sport' and a 'TV Sport' Self delusion is everything - no one turns up because it's not worth going. Barry O'Farrell grew up in Melbourne and is a Richmond supporter so..... Their paranoia is endlessly amusing...

WSYD Showgrounds gets go ahead for redevelopment

I wonder if they will configure or indeed if it is possible to do so so that the current stand is on the wing? Bit of a strange shape. This is ironic given when the Swans originally went to Sydney it was debated whether they should play at the then Sydney Showgrounds stadium - next to SCG
