Just watched a very interesting video on AFL.com about new rules for 2013 http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/149757/default.aspx
It will be interesting to see how the ruck-man in the BDAFL, sorry AFL Hunter Coast cope with the new "no contact" rule at ball ups and boundary...
Hey, with the rain starting to thump down (and half the town getting blown away), any updates regarding possible ground changes?
The poor people at Cardiff, you have hardly had any "home games" at home. With this rain the CLOSED sign will probably be up very quickly at BE.
No surprise to be asking the question, with all the rain do we know of any ground changes/cancellations? Will the BDAFL invoke the "wet weather policy" with all 3 games played at say Nelson Bay?
Wow, looks like its been quiet week out there. Must be the wet weather keeping everyone away. Speaking of the wet weather, can any of you who are connected to the clubs give any advice in regard to ground conditions and changes?
According to Gosford Council's web site, Hylton Moore is closed...
Just saw the preview for this weeks round on the BDAFL web site. Should be some good games. I recon the most "hotly" contested one will be Gosford v Lake Mac. With both yet to win a game, one of them is sure to get a win on the board.
Can anyone confirm, I heard word going around that...
I see from the BDAFL web site that the Wyong coach has resigned. Whats the go with coaches. They are falling over like 9 pins!!
Is there something in the water?
From the BDAFL web site:
" Immediate past president of the league, Steve Smith, passed away this morning as a result of a long illness.
He was president of the league from 2007-10 and member of the Board from 2005. Previous to this Steve was a member of the GSJ-Newcastle and Newcastle...
I see on the BDAFL web site that they are still seeking people to go on the board. No surprise Steve Smith is stepping down considering his health situation. Good luck for the future Mr Smith.
Interesting (and a little surprising) that they say there were no applicants for the Umpires Coach...
Have you seen the BDAFL web site. The talk of cancellation due to the weather has already started.
The Newcastle City Council web says that No1 is already closed. Tonight's junior grand finals look like not going ahead and with the rain forecast to intensify this afternoon???
Looks like...
I just had a look at the BDAFL web site under their by-laws. I think part a covers this.
8. Eligibility of Players for Finals
(i) A player must play no less than one quarter of his club’s home and away matches in
any one season to be eligible to play in the clubs finals series matches subject...
The results of todays games are in. It would appear that Warners Bay have taken 4th spot off Killarney Vale.
As I said recently. This may not have happened if Killarney Vale had played their game against the Crows.
Looks like they have paid the price for thier decision to cancel that game.
Great pictures Big Dave. You must be a keen football supporter to go to the effort to take these and put them on the site.
Its is clear that Warner's Bay don't have any of these "supposed issues" with the local council.
Makes you wonder, if other clubs had the courage to stand up to the...
Yes there seems to be some strange decisions taken . Look at what has happened this weekend. More games cancelled because of the wet weather. These may have some interesting consequences.
Since the Warner's Bay game went ahead and they won this may now see Killarney Vale saying...
Nice pictures. The forecast is for the rain to clear overnight possible showers tomorrow with a fine day Friday and for the weekend. I would say that it would depend on just how wet the grounds are as to if the games go ahead.
The councils say that even if it is fine, the grounds are still...
She is a very good coach. She has coached us here in Sydney and is very liked and respected. She will be an asset for the umpires up there.
However, it is still a great shame what the BDAFL has done to Roger. But it says something about how good he was when they need 2 people to replace him.
Re: Black Diamond AFL Part 2
I don't think its the issue of changing coaches. In this world there is a right way & a wrong way to treat people. Its called RESPECT.
I believe not much of it was shown.
I think you have hit the nail on the head Mr Billyworth. There were understand many times when Roger and the GM did not see eye to eye. But, he is not the only one in that club.
It is said the GM is a "control freak" and would be very much at home on the set of "Thunderbirds". He likes...
Yeh, it seems that way doesn't it!! That said, I am an umpire in Sydney and over the last 6 to 8 weeks he has been to a lot of Sydney AFL Umpire training nights (before the end of the season) and meetings.
I see the BDAFL web site is advertising for an Umpires Coach. I take it that your last coach (Roger) has taken the role in Sydney.
We saw him with Graham Glassford last weekend at the Sydney Umpires planing meeting. I am sure he was not here just for the tea and biscuits!!
Yes you are right. Roger is unliked and really hated by the umpires up there!!
So unliked and hated that at the last general meeting of the Umpires Association the members voted to make him a Life Member.
Now that's the sort of thing you do with people you don't like:confused: NOT!!
Am I missing something here. From the comments you are making I take you don't thing highly of Roger.
Didn't the BDAFL name him as the "Umpire of the year" for 2009?
There must be a lot of people who don't share your point of view.
In Sydney we have always regarded him from a...
The news out of umpire land in regards to next year is not good. It would appear that up to 6 umpires who regularly did 1st grade this year, including the 3 who did the 1st grade grand final are gone.
Retired: Ashley Borg, Grant Godfrey, Peter Hampshire. Phil Stone has gone to Melbourne and...
