I don't understand why fans of other clubs are happy about this at all. This prevents players coming in AND players leaving Sydney.
I'll use a Hawthorn example.
Say Dan Hannebery wants to be traded out and wants to go to Hawthorn. Sydney say, sure no worries, but in return we want Luke...
The Saints are gonna be hard to knock off...
I think White should stay in. If Carlton had a second tall target up forward other than Setanta I reckon they would have still gotten over the line against the Saints.
Spangher's in form, Reid is dangerous and White has proven that he can nab a...
Third rounder is very optimistic. If we did go for a Tambling or Sherman, you'd think it would be a player deal (maybe Veszpremi).
On Currie... he's in a tough position now, going into his 5th(?) year on the list and will now be considered a 4th string ruckman in our setup. I know it's good...
Seaby for sure, which is a shame for Mike because he's earned his chance to play senior footy.
Maybe they can teach him how to play forward or defence... if they can find another role for him, I'd love Pykey to stay in the team.
Just on this. You were complaining about players like Nick Smith, Jesse White, Heath Grundy and Ed Barlow.
Three out of those four players are now playing regular seniors and will be a good part of the next 10 years at the club. Who's to say that the way the development is done isn't working...
Good idea, how about we make them earn it first. Achieving something after they've fought and worked hard for it will be far more beneficial to the team and much more satisfying for the player.
If Bevo or whoever won't be around for the next premiership, then the onus is on the young player to...
Good thinking. Lets just hand out games to players because they are young.
Fact is there was heaps of youth in the side before injuries. Craig Bird, Nick Smith, Gary Rohan, Brett Meredith, Lewis Jetta plus Hannebery, Jack, White, Mumford who are all in the side because they've earned it...
Re: Roo's assessment of certain youngster's
Clearly they are more deserving than the players who aren't getting a game. Bedford, for someone who demands so much, are you just going to settle for someone crapper and less deserving just to satisfy your dislike of certain players?
If someone...
Re: Roo's assessment of certain youngster's
Sounds like they have been told all this privately, several times too. The fact he talks about them making excuses seems to say he's tried to talk sense into them.
Looks like there might be some shock delistments at the end of the year.
So it's season over? Time to throw in the towel? Blood the kids cause we are no chance in finals?
Far out, Playfair was INJURED for a half of footy and you wonder why he didn't have an impact? You want to play Goodes in the midfield, oh but wait who will be the tall target in our forward...
He looked like a player who was used to the pace of the Canberra league. Hopefully they give him a couple more games to get up to speed, and I have a good feeling about him against Collingwood.
I know people will shout me down for this but I think Rohan should go back to the 2nds for a few...
First game in the seniors after plenty of time in Canberra. If he only shanked two kicks out of 11 then I'm pretty happy.
His effort to get into space for marks was pretty good. He looks like a bloke who's used to the slower pace of Canberra but will pick it up again soon I'm sure.
I think Jetta is too small to play the forward role. He's silky and classy but hasn't got the body strength to lock it in with strong tackles I reckon.
We played much better when Gary Rohan went forward, I think he could be the option. Forget about playing him in defence, and use his chasing...
And exactly how much are they being paid to play football? Or are you just making an assumption?
GWS or Gold Coast could have spent $1m each in marketing and it would have been a drop in the ocean compared to the splash these signings make in rugby league heartland.
The fact is, they've got...
So you're getting excited over a 0.4 difference average between most stats? All that says to me is Jesse and Hank were about the same at the same age. What do the stats say about Henry's next year? Did he continue on or stagnate like Jesse has?
IMO Jesse will eventually become our full...
That's a bit of a silly comment. Every player in the team would love to be out there giving their all for Kirky no doubt.
Everyone is so hot and bothered about White getting dumped. Weren't people saying exactly the same thing about Jetta only a few weeks ago but now most people want him to...
This is the kind of attitude which makes sure the standard of umpiring will always stay low.
Why would a talented junior umpire want to make it to senior ranks when they are going to cop this kind of abuse? Some of the most talented junior umpires quit because of supporters who make these...
Goals to Gary - 1
Goals to Bevo - 0
Can't argue with those numbers ;)
Playfair has been good, if you're gonna have a crack at some players look at Adam Goodes, Ted Richards and Martin Mattner. Pyke is rucking well but needs to do more around the ground... no possessions in a half of football...
For me it's either Jesse White or Dan in the side. I don't think we can carry two developing talls in the forward line/ruck and still be a competitive top 8 team.
I'd venture if we were more like Richmond or Melbourne then Currie would have debuted yonks ago, but what we saw in the NAB is what...
Just as a comparison for what Hank will offer us while Jesse plays in the ruck.
Playfair's stats from 11 games in 2008
kicks: 6.1
handpasses: 4.5
marks: 4.8
possessions: 10.5
tackles: 0.9
frees for: 0.6
frees against: 0.5
Shots: 1.7 per game
total goals: 10
total behinds: 9
White's stats...
If it was based on form then fair crack but to kick a bloke who had some quite serious injuries to his hamstring is just not right. I don't see you having the same crack at Veszpremi, who has also suffered some heavy injuries.
When Hank played in the seniors he was definitely a contributor...
In regards to Rohan, his speed is actually most damaging when providing defensive pressure. In the games he played in the NAB and highlights from the Champs last year, he consistently ran down opponents with his pace and tackling and that's probably the biggest danger for Geelong.
As a...
If Hannebery's shoulder needs some time to heal, I would err on the side of caution. Remember we still have Craig Bird (when fit) and Brett Meredith who could play in a similar role.
I don't want to see another situation similar to Kennelly before he left for Ireland, with Hannebery's shoulder...
How can you lose first week of eliminator?!
I could have played without a captain and four 0's and still got through! To my opponents credit though, at least he had the common sense not to pick Presti!
I'm really worried about Sherman and Power coming back in. Two big ins for them. I think you'll definitely see a much better performance from Brisbane going forward next week.
The big question is how their defence is going to hold up. I assume Patfull would go to Bradshaw but what about the...
There are plenty of blokes in the reserves who are showing very good form, possibly even better form than Jetta at the moment.
For everyone saying how "shattering" it would be for Lewis to go back to the reserves, how shattering is it for the blokes who are performing in Canberra and not being...
