Collingwood Warriors playing out of Victoria Park...fairly embarassing, if they were to be linked with Collingwood you would assume they would share the lexus centre, from i've heard they dont know where to base themselves, rumours have been lexus centre, casey fields and redeveloped bob jane...
The vpl has 12 clubs, Melbourne has 1 A league franchise, how would you go about it? secondly what makes you think that Victory wants to allign itself with vpl clubs? I honestly dont see the value in it, the vpl begins this weekend, nothing is stopping the Victory coaching staff from turning up...
Whilst its set up for a major boilover the vibe coming out of the Adelaide camp is far from positive, they just seem happy to have the spot in Asia but realise that they have to cop another grand final thrashing again before it.
Playing Jonas Salley will help, but it has 4-0 written all over...
I think a club like Victory with the profile it has should be looking into setting up its own juniors at some stage, the truth is most clubs would be better off without the partnership, as powerful as Victory are they still pay rent to South Melbourne to have its youth/womens games at bob jane...
Would you agree that MV feels more like a state team as opposed to just an ordinary club? MV has positioned itself as not only the club for all Melbournians but the entire state of Victoria....big V on the shirt, the media refers to it as "our team" etc.
So the new mob cant come in and use...
From what i've noticed the majority of people are football fans more so then Victory fans, as of right now whether the team is going great (this season) or bad (last season) people only have 1 choice, with a new team coming the public gets an option, and one of those options is supporting 2...
I'll definately check them out a few times, but it will be the same as Victory, i'd be going more for the social aspect of it with mates as opposed to barracking, when the derby comes around i'd probably go for them assuming they have a tiny fan base and play the role of underdog, i think what...

Mark Viduka may be the next high profile Socceroos star to return to Australia.
But not with an A-League club.
The Newcastle United striker is set to link up with his former NSL club the Melbourne...
Well its not really South, the article i read clearly states that it will be a new entity with smfc remaining in the vpl, i have no idea who from South is behind the bid or who they have on board, South will have a stake in this franchise with the team based out of the re-developed bob jane...
The Clarendon Corner wave around greek flags? lol, when Carlton were around the Clarendon Corner didnt exist, it came into existence around 2002 when Carlton were long gone and the group was predominantly non greek, they moved to the corner of the ground to actually get away from the more...
Three Greek Australians represented Greece in U/19 action last week
JAMES BELIAS
HAVING been practically overlooked by the local football set-up, young Greek Australian Andreas Govas has his sights firmly set on European football life. The Melbournian midfielder is currently at English...
Nah it was the opposite...Souths reserves against full strength Victory for 60 minutes, the last half hour was fringe Victory/youth players v South rezzies/under 18s, ended 5-1.
I think what he means is that fta networks are scared of the round ball code and may look to secure the rights to the A league which would give them the opportunity to put games/highlights on at 3am like they did with the nsl in an attempt to bury it.
This would be hard but a traditional vpl franchise could gain a lot of support from the old disenfranchised fans, get top notch people running it, clubs like south, knights, zebras could have a stake in it, the team would be brand new and would have a pretty decent chance of marketing itself...
You make good points, ethnic rivalries have been extinguished, if South were the 2nd franchise out of Melbourne (will never happen) but lets say it did happen, their wouldnt be any other ethnic teams to battle with, it will basically be the way it was when South would play Perth or Brisbane in...
How would you know that though? you could end up being right but until he is given a reasonable amount of game time nobody will ever know.
Victory needs a cleanout, 3-4 players aside its a vpl team, Theo, Vargas, Archie and Muscat (when he isnt having a brain explosion) are the only players...
If we are talking about exhibition matches you are correct nobody is gonna put any effort in, the reason it finished 5-3 was because neither side bothered to work when they didnt have posession, by the 30 minute mark it was backyard football, hardly anything their to judge the leagues on, same...
Another one of Merricks massive blunders having watched this bloke many times in the vpl dominating and not bothering, unforgiveable really, always been a massive Glory fan as well so he is the type that would stick around even if things keep going bad....he basically played the 1st half of the...
I dont think he had enough time, Merrick was an NSL failure and for the most part so was Kosmina ( newcastle breakers/ brisbane strikers) yet both of them played off in a grand final last season.
Not a fan of the squad, Zdrillic, Popovic, Rudan, Corica, Bolton, Talay etc these names could...
You could be right, if you look at someone like Geoff Lord he doesnt have the knowledge of the sport to realise how important the juniors are yet he could spend hours talking about bringing teams from asia into the A league, its the mindset where development isnt seen as important...
You do realise Adelaide, Perth and Newcastle are from the NSL? or are you trying to tell us you want those franchises out of the A league?:thumbsd::rolleyes:.
As for why they would consider this, it seems as though the ffa is under some serious financial strain, reserve A league competition...
How do those Simpson twins get a game?
Despite all this crap Perth will come out with 8,000 in their next home game, no club would get anywhere near that if they had to put up with whats happened at the Glory the past 3 years with squads that would struggle to win a state league title.
Never gonna happen, both getting into the A league or changing the "hellas stuff", its a bit hard to change something that doesnt exist anymore considering we are South Melbourne FC these days and have been for a very long time.
We just need a better environment then the vpl, its run like a...
This rabble doesnt deserve to be compared to other countries, with the rubbish i saw last night i think a few top end A league clubs could knock them off.
Fantastic win but Venus should win the final easily, cant believe its the same player that should have been bundled out by a little known Japanese player on tuesday, but the Williams sisters have done it in the past where they have gotten out of jail in the early rounds of grand slams and gone...
