Just wondering who the 3 category A rookies are as I thought the club got rid of them all, except Boyd who is being promoted to senior list. So with our 3 choices tonight plus Smith last night as well as Haynes and Boyd added to the senior list makes 39 seniors, zero rookies + the 2 Irish B...
For me Langford should be last on that list as Carlton do not need another big lumbering type of player in the midfield as we already have enough in Cripps, Hewett and Cerra, and while he does have his unique set of skills the club are supposed to be looking at players with pace and more pace as...
Agree with what you say about him being able to run freely as he has got the speed for that, but I feel that his skill set is better suited in the middle of the ground and into the forward line, as he is a bit of a chaos player in that he likes to just take off and roost the ball into attack and...
Above all else!!! and as the saying goes...."it`s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog"....and Smith fights for the ball like he thinks he owns it...........
I think Murphy Reid could be one of the saints picks, and although he lacks pace he is quick with how he reads the game and moves the ball, which sounds a bit like Pendles. I think the other pick might go on a tall defender because they obviously need a Battle replacement and chased Kemp proving...
Let`s face it none of the kids in any draft are perfect as they all have their limitations, and the knock on Langford is his lack of pace, whereas Lalor, Smith and FO`S have plenty of pace and it`s needed in our midfield.
They are the best highlights I have seen since Rankin in his draft year.......He has such brilliant judgement that even when he loses the ball he just bobs up and finds it again seconds later.......and his pace is through the roof WOW!!! Could get pushed aside at AFL level by bigger bodies early...
I would be thinking the Lions, as their pick 27 will be swallowed by bids on Levi Ashcroft & the Marshall kid as they are supposed to need more points, but would 38 and one of our later picks be enough to swing it? I am not into checking out the worth of picks so maybe it`s way off, but at least...
FOS for me thanks, as he seems to have more "difference" to the others with a greater mixture of things he does well, whereas Lalor looks like he could end up playing where Dusty played the majority of his career........between mid & forward. Nothing wrong with that of course but I would think...
I also believe that Sam Durdin will go (his age dictates that I feel....) as you cannot keep both him and Young on the list now that the club have brought in Haynes and are thinking of Granger-Barras (hope not!!!) as a DFA ,and the other one could be Matt Carroll, so that would open up more list...
Probably correct as I cannot imagine letting Jack Carroll go after Kennedy now leaving, especially as he wants more mid time as well, just like Bam Bam did. Sorry to see Kennedy go as what he lacked in talent he made up for with heart!!!
We really need to get ahead of the saints pick (do not know how though?) or sos will take his frustration out on us for not trading Kemp by bidding on it to stop us getting another kid in the draft.....apart from all the other muck on his liver that he cannot let go of about his old club that...
Do no want to touch Langford with a barge pole, as he may have talent but is slow and not what we need as we already have enough big bodied slow movers in our midfield thanks........."I feel the need, the need for speed!!!"
I don`t know if you follow "Gettable" on the AFL site with Riley Beveridge & Cal Twomey, but Beveridge is a Carlton supporter and is in the know with the draft and actually sees that one of the clubs biggest weaknesses is that we have no players in the middle of the ground with elite speed and...
As we need pace in the midfield I would be thinking Draper or Smith.......how good would that be, a Carlton midfielder that is actually fleet of foot!!! WOW:p
You are correct, the player that is available to us straight after the Tiges and Norf picks, even if one of them bids on Ashcroft.........Ashcroft is in the "too much to hope for" draft section!!!......o_O
I guess I would just prefer to see us keep the two picks and use them on two kids, as I see more flexibility in separating the two picks rather than bundling them together for the one high pick. It really is annoying that after pick 3 our next pick is in the 60s, although if it`s true that Rich...
Take the two picks, or we will have given up pick 12, F1,F2, pick 34 (for Lions F2) and pick 14 as well to just get one kid in the end!!! Not much pressure on the kid we take at pick 3 is there?!! Austin will also come in for his fair share if the kid is a bust, whereas with two kids the chances...
I would not give up two picks to W.C. without getting their pick 26 back as well, otherwise we only get the one pick and more late picks for points!!! Not much return for giving away our F1 & F2 in a deal with the Haws if we draft just one kid and then have a squillion points to get the Campo...
A lot of teams overlooked Selwood that year because he had been injured leading up to the draft, so it was not just us........hindsight is such a great thing........
I guess I am just repeating what you said above but this is a subject that drives me crazy so I will keep on with this!!!.......as the player that was looked at before the F-S/Academy picks were taken is still there, as those picks are separate and do not affect the open draft depth!!! This is...
I don`t mind so much if we miss out on Houston and he stays at Port, but I just don`t want Col getting any stronger while we watch on that`s all........
Totally delusional, as the Woods F1 could be around pick 13/14 itself meaning that Col think Noble is worth 23 & 29......fair bit of arrogance in that demand, and like you said GC need to be strong and tell em to get stuffed over that scenario!!!
Agree that Berry does look cleaner with his kicking, and when he takes off with the ball reminds me of Cotchin a bit in that he lowers his centre of gravity and is well balanced.......Hannaford has great traits as well, and is a ferocious tackler but I just like the neatness Berry has......
