AFL Player #21: Dyson Heppell - Goodnight, sweet prince. What a legend! 🤙 - 24/8

Now i know that you can get stats to prove just about anything but ............ After a year out, Dyson averaged 26.3 disposals per game (the 2nd highest season average of his career after 2014, and 1.6 more than his total career average). I'd say that was pretty good, and hopefully with another...

AFL Player #21: Dyson Heppell - Goodnight, sweet prince. What a legend! 🤙 - 24/8

I absolutely love Hepp. Despite a year out, despite all the flak that has surrounded the club, he's been an inspirational captain this season.

    Opinion The #5 in waiting...

All the players who might "deserve" the No 5 currently have a number which they're unlikely to change e.g. Dyson in 21 or Zach in 7, so we'll probably just have to wait until Stanton hangs up his boots and see if we've drafted a new whizz kid by then or we've signed a superstar from elsewhere.

AFL Player #21: Dyson Heppell - Goodnight, sweet prince. What a legend! 🤙 - 24/8

He's had 5 seasons as the young kid hotshot. He's won all the individual young/rookie player awards, which has highlighted his potential. Now, as he's about to turn 25, and been appointed captain, it's time to take it to the next level and lead this team and club back to Premiership success. On...

AFL Player #21: Dyson Heppell - Goodnight, sweet prince. What a legend! 🤙 - 24/8

I absolutely love Dyson ................ Yes, he's a great player and undoubtedly a future captain. Yes, he's won all those individual honours (Rising Star, Crichton, All-Australian etc etc). Yes, he's been one of our best and most consistent performers over the last 4 years...

    Opinion Coach: James Hird

The club has been royally ****** by the AFL, ASADA and the media for 3 years. There was no pre-season, and up until about 20 seconds before the opening bounce of the season, we didn't know whether we would have any players, or if we'd have to recruit a handful of waifs and strays from the local...

Opinion Who's in for a big year? Pick your player!

I'm expecting a "big year" from all the lads. I firmly believe that they will take the anger felt by them; because of the witch-hunt and injustices of the last two years, and the way they've been unfairly treated by the AFL, ASADA and the media; and channel this into 25 outstanding performances...

Opinion Who's in for a big year? Pick your player!

You forgot the Norm Smith Medal.

Opinion Which club is Essendon's biggest rival?

I hate Carlton ......... sometimes when I see old videos of the "Line In The Sand" stuff, or the mid 80's Grand Finals, or even a more recent outrage, I start to hate Hawthorn ........... then some old ****er like Mick Malthouse opens his mouth, and I remember why and who I really hate :)

What kind of fan are you?

Ha ha ......... that's me Right now I'm convinced that we'll win the flag next September, but during games, I'm always expecting us to throw it all away. For example, as a Green bay Packers fan, I wasn't at all surprised that we blew a 12 point lead with just over 2 minutes to play.

Universal Love Your favourite Essendon Grand Final moments

I have yet to have my favourite Grand Final moment ....... but it will be in 2015, when James returns to the coaching box, and an inspired Norm Smith performance from Dyson, allows Jobe to pick up number 17.

Who is our second best player ?

I hadn't noticed the date ...... and was assuming this was an all-time list, hence the talk of past players. I was just about to point out that Hird was only the 3rd best player we've ever had. Oops.

AFL Player #21: Dyson Heppell - Goodnight, sweet prince. What a legend! 🤙 - 24/8

Re: Dyson Heppell When I first saw this, I thought Hepp had miskicked it and just got lucky ............ it was only when I watched it again, that I realised what a supreme piece of skill and awareness it was.

"Bombed Out" - The best & worst puns

What do other Bomber supporters do in the off season?

We play in the Blue Square Premier (obviously) and the top team automatically go up into League 2 ...... positions 2nd to 5th play-off to get the second promotion place. At the other end, 4 get relegated and are replaced by teams from the Blue Square North and Blue Square South. As for cups...

What do other Bomber supporters do in the off season?

Yes it is the league below League 2 .............. there are 24 teams in this league, and we're one of only 4 teams who are part time............... hence why survival is all we can hope for, yet we currently lie 7th in the table .

What do other Bomber supporters do in the off season?

No, sorry, I've searched my memory, but I don't recall there being a 2006-07 series :p

What do other Bomber supporters do in the off season?

Personally, I thought it was the best series ever ............even better than 2005 and 2009 :D As for my AFL off season..........well August to May is football (or soccer as you call it); so I'll be watching my hometown club, Southport as we try and survive in the Blue Square Premier League...

Memories and how did you become an Essendon fan?

As a Pommie, I didn't even know Aussie Rules existed until I was an adult. I remember , very vaguely, seeing some Grand Final highlights during the 80's, on a UK tv show called World of Sport, which each week would feature at least one sport from around the world, not usually played in the UK...

Roast Will you boo McPhee in round 2?

Don't boo him ........... just ignore him. Make him feel that he is such an insignificant player that you haven't even noticed his departure from the club, or his presence on the field.

    Is it just me... or.....

To quote an American writing about baseball , but it holds true for all sports ......... You can admire a team who wins , but you fall in love with a team when it loses .

Interesting that it includes the 2005 Pies Anzac game , yet if I remember correctly it was the 2003 and 2004 games that he was BoG .

    New James Hird highlights compilation

A great video about a legendary player . Thanks for posting it . I'd love to see a Hird dvd produced , I've got lots of games courtesy of "sportsdelivered.com" on dvd ; but it would be superb for someone to bring all the best moments together onto 1 single dvd . After all they made dvds for...

Should have finished off Carlton earlier and by more, the result flattered them

I'm just grateful those missed kicks didn't come back to haunt us . But as mentioned by the other guys , Fev missed plenty himself .
