Preview Hawks vs Pies - Discussion and changes

Goldsack will play on Buddy, I would think. Keefe to Hale as a start and Brown to Roughead. Williams to Rioli, Shaw to Breust, Maxwell to Gunston, Sinclair to Puopolo if he's down there. The match ups aren't horrible for us on paper, they just always end up being that way in reality...

Autopsy Hawks vs Crows - Take it apart here.

But the problem was Adelaide was not going long to packs, they were hitting up short targets in the corridor and around the 50 metre arc and then they were going to Tippett and Walker when they had space and only one opponent. Too many times Hawthorn players sagged off the back of their man (I...

Preview Qualifying Final - Hawks vs Collingwood

You guys absolutely deserve to be clear favourites for the flag, let alone this game. COllingwood are not functioning right at the minute, probably a case of not having played enough games together during the season. We seem out of sync. I think you should be pretty confident going into the...

    Autopsy Hawks v Pies

Just a brilliant effort from your team, slick, hard and way too classy across the ground. If you hit theat sort of form in September, with Buddy back, you will be impossible to stop. Thumbs up for your backline too, always ridiculed, but it is an area of strength controlled perfectly by Gibson.

    Round 17 - Hawks v Collingwood

I am saying Buddy out means it couldn't possibly be negligible.

    Round 17 - Hawks v Collingwood

In all honesty, I can't see how anyone could say that. The big difference between the changes is that Collingwood have brought in seasoned guys who have played a lot of footy. Hawthorn have brought in some seasoned guys with a lot of footy, but they replace seasoned guys who have played a lot of...

Injury Buddy out for up to 3 weeks

Firstly, I want to say that I think Hawthorn are just about the best bet for the premiership at the moment as it stands. But I am wondering where all this new found confidence in your team has come from? It was just over a month ago that most people on this board were talking down the team...

I wouldn't mind if it was based on solid points but I guess I can see where you're coming from. Some would take offence like u have. I have close family who are hawk nuts and I keep an interest in how they are going. Good luck for the rest of the year.

I didn't say you have no talent, I said that there is a lack of talent in the midfield. You certainly have the best talent in the league in the forward line. If you have a problem with any of my points, then couldn't you address them instead of making this about the team I support?

Apologies, my point was perhaps Clarkson doesn't have as talented a team (especially in the mids) as we all thought at the beginning of the year. I guess it still might be his fault if you believe he was responsible for recruiting and trading to compile the list you have.

I think there clearly is. What I see is that Hawthorn have declining midfielders like Sewell and Burgoyne who don't seem like they will be getting any better. Add that to Hodge out, Mitchell struggling to carry the load and that the lower ranked sides from 2011 have improved, Richmond being a...

With out Hodge, yes I am saying it is a talent thing. And you did have Hodge in last years Prelim, granted it wasn't his best ever game, but he was still good in and around the ball and gave great leadership. You played great in the prelim, but to justify your midfields ability on one solitary...

I think the Hawks have a lot of talent, but the problem to me is that the talent is not in the midfield. Well I guess Roughy has been playing there lately, but when you've got Cyril, Buddy and Roughy as 3 excellent forwards and you've got Gibson, Birchall and likely Hodge when he is fit in...

    Is Clarkson's time up?

As it stands now, I don't think you have anything to worry about. You need to get Birchall and Smith back into your team, because without them you have really only Savage as a genuinely quick ball carrier, and that's not just in your midfield, that is in the whole side. I think that is why Buddy...

    Our midfield is struggling ...

I think the midfield was smashed today, but there wont be that many problems over the year. Mitchell was well held today and he is the driving force. But he very rarely plays 2 bad ones in a row. Add to that Hodge should be fitter for the run and hopefully for you guys, he will soon be able to...

    The calm before the storm

Does it really matter if they are in the top dozen players? If they are in the next 10 then they are still players you are going to miss. Football is not won just by your best 12 players. I think the reason a lot of our supporters are talking about getting smacked is because we have a lot of...

    Hodge out vs Freo?

Was browsing the most possies and he has been scratched, its usually a good guide, any reason why? Surely he didnt fly over there then?

Preview Round 15 Teams: Collingwood v Hawthorn

The Hawks have obviously been hit hard with injury and to more crucial key position players, but Collingwood still have Beams, Didak, Johnson, Macaffer, Goldsack (form) and Nathan Brown out from our premiership side. We are not at full strength for this game, even so we should win quite comfortably.

    Xavier Ellis on Sport 927

Andrew Swallow, Bernie Vince, Josh Kennedy, Sam Gilbert, Richard Douglas, Travis Varcoe, Shannon Hurn, Nathan Jones, Shaun Higgins, Mitch Clarke, Paddy Ryder, Clint Bartram, Mathew Stokes, Garrick Ibbotson and even Paul Bower would be players I would take well before Ellis from 2005. And...

It's time to go: John Barker

Hey guys, just wanted to put my two cents in on this one. I think in 2008 people saw how dangerous Hawthorn were one on one deep inside 50, especially Roughy and Franklin. So many times the zone employed by the Hawks 2008 managed to cause turnovers and then bang it forward to the aformentioned...
