News AFL trade, free agency and draft. "who goes where?" - No freakin' hypotheticals

Hawks won't. But will O'Meara? His resolve is surely being tested.

News AFL trade, free agency and draft. "who goes where?" - No freakin' hypotheticals

Lets be pragmatic here. At the end of the day, Hawthorn Footy Club lives on. Whilst i dont understand the trade with Saints, it obviously done to obtain JOM. Be proud that our club values our players as people and not assets. Our success is uncompared both on and off the field. Suns are...

Opinion 1 era ends, but the new has begun: or the sweet relief of finally getting O'Meara after all that

The rationale of Lewis/Mitchell i can understand. Tugs at the heart strings, but good buisness for all parties. The Tom Mitchell trade was a win in my eyes. In that respect, we've done well... but in isolation the trade with St Kilda is concerning. That may all change and we trade in JOM or...

News AFL trade, free agency and draft. "who goes where?" - No freakin' hypotheticals

With the loss of Mitchell/Lewis/Hill and if we miss out on JOM, will we need to renegotiate some contracts to front end them as we need to pay 95% of the cap as per AFL rules? (Estimate only) Lewis 500, Mitchell 600, JOM 600 is 1.7 million we have not spent... This is of course if nobody else...

Game Day Peter Crimmins Medal 2016

If Stratton didn't go down with injury, it was his to lose. Cyril or Sammy. If we held it 2 weeks later, Graham Wright would of been a chance as well (if what we want to happen, happens).

List Mgmt. 2016 Trade, Draft and free agency news (no hypothetical trades)

Great point. 2016 Brand isn't waht we need but with time 2016/17/18 Brand may develop into exactly what we need. I believe his market value is less then what his value to us is.

Hope it's the Crows. Dogs could absolutely torch us.

Preview Hawks vs Brisbane - Hale, Langer's, Sicily IN, Hodge, Pop and Schoe OUT

Unless players need a 'mental' break to freshen up, we need players like Hill, Rough, Birchall etc to get some confidence over the next 2 weeks. All about our versatility, but in finals we are going to need a tall forward to draw the footy and we used to have a coleman medalist to do that...

News 2015 Hawthorn Fixture (released 30 October 2014)

Whilst i would love to see the Hawks play up here in Brisbane again, since our last Gabba game we have won 3 flags... Any stupid little superstition to keep the dream alive!! Happy to travel to the Gold Coast...

Mega Thread The Franklin Mint - All Buddy angst, rants, etc to go in here AND NOWHERE ELSE

Start of the season, i really didn't miss him too much and was quite happy with how everything had turned out. Swans were playing crap and we were simply awesome. But now with all our injuries and the big Bud showing some very good form, real determination and focus, it is starting to hurt that...

Franks for the memories. Things don't always go well with COLA

For those parents talking to their kids, please tell the tale of the legend known as "Dunstall". A man who gave up a 10 year deal to return home, only to stay loyal to his beloved football club. A man who is still involved today and has been instrumental in our 2008 and 2013 premierships. That...

Franks for the memories. Things don't always go well with COLA

He has a chance to really leave a legacy in the next 2 games before he leaves if that is his choice. This guy is Buddy Franklin and he can tear any game apart, but hasn't done in often enough lately for my liking. Give us 2 of your best Buddy and make me think Damn.. we will never see that...

Game Day Preliminary Final: Hawthorn v Geelong

I have my own implanted cardiac defib. Its set to shock if beats reach a certain level. Please Hawks, win and win well, for my own well being. Because if you dont, will be very painful for me...

    Your Strategy to Beat Geelong

How about we leave Buddy and Cyril in the forward 50 and instead of kicking it in the air we just kick it along the ground to them in the one on ones. Geelong never mark the ball and when they grab possession they dont have anytime to set up and we just pressure them full on. The old 'chaos'...

Franks for the memories. Things don't always go well with COLA

When he is on, he is unstoppable but when he is off he can be putrid. He really needs to bridge the gap from his best to his worst. The media are going to have a good week with this. Will be interesting to see over the next few weeks, if he is suspended, what life after Buddy would look like...

Franks for the memories. Things don't always go well with COLA

If this was the case and he does go, it better be to GWS. I would rage if it was the Swans.

    Dunstall or Buddy

Dunstall as he was and still is my football hero. Plus he rejected a 10 year contract for big money to go home to the Bears and stayed on as a one club player. I loved the way footy was played in the Dunstall era, forwards one out and with the 50 all to themselves. So much has evolved since...

Our Rucks and how we move forward?

What is your thought on our Ruck stocks and whom do we play and when? I loved the Hale and Roughy combo last year but have high hopes for Bailey and Lowden. Do we want go see Roughy or Hale become permanent forwards again so either of those two can play? Its going to be a good sub plot for me...

Preview WARNING - THIS THREAD DISCUSSES FOOTBALL - NAB Cup Discussion Here

Hawks games in QLD are rare these days so relishing the opportunity to see them play live. Would love to see a fringe player take the game on and make us think... well well what do we have here? Also, wanna see Buddy not play and Roughy kick 15 and think everything will be alright in 2014.

News Mitchell wants three more years with Hawks

With interchange cap coming next year I reckon he will thrive. An old school footballer who doesn't rely on his pace are going to be a premium next year. No arguments from me, plus sounds like he wants to and loves to be here. Prefer him to win a Norm Smith over a Brownlow though.

Play Nice Franklin contract talks on hold

James O'Connor comes out of contract with Melbourne Rebels this year, maybe he is waiting to see what he does? He is pretty social with the rugby players. Only problem is these Union boys play for the highest bidder.

Play Nice Franklin contract talks on hold

Feel sorry for other players coming out of contract with us. With Buddy the priority, and rightly so, how does this effect the others? The club is certainly going to have work hard with its list management, not knowing what it can pay other players etc. I.just hope that manager of Mundine...

Play Nice Franklin contract talks on hold

Onfield we will cope, having buddy is a luxury and im sure we can cover him. Off field will be a massive hit. Membership, exposure, sponsorship and young kids supporting Hawthorn because of Buddy. That is where it will be felt. Unfortuantely, that is the footy of today. I miss the good ole...

Toast PCM 2012 - Congratulations Sam Mitchell, 4-time winner

I remember last year the theme in Clarko's and Jeff's speech was all about the prelim result and determination to get better. Just wondering for whoever is watching, was there a similar theme with everyone's speech this year? I hope so.

    Hawks changing stripes

I thought it was a pretty good relationship between the two. Isnt Puma Australia CEO a massive Hawks man? Maybe its a ploy to try and squeeze some extra from Puma.. If true, I remember reading that the new clash jumper was designed by Puma, does that mean we can use it with Adidas...

Mega Thread 2012 Fixture: Pros and Cons

Re: 2012 Fixture No games against Lions/Suns in QLD. That makes it now 4 years since we visited the Gabba. Might have to organise a family holiday to get down to see some live games. Looks a tough fixture for us, we will earn our spot in the finals thats for sure.

Re: Hawks Meet Pies in Rd1 Just reading Jeff's piece on the HFC website about the president election, he talks about always being frank in his communication to us. He then goes onto saying we will hear from on Friday and again he will be frank. Now with the Fixture coming out on Friday, and...

Official Club Stuff Official Hawthorn Club Account on Big Footy

Good afternoon Mr Offical, I know that Tasmania are on board for the next 5 years, but what of our other sponsors? How much longer does HSBC, BUPA and Puma have on their current deals. Sorry for the odd question, but we are looking at switching banks and our health insurance early next...
