I know that I haven't been posting very long on BF and maybe I'm not in a position to say anything as we are all entitled to have our say. But shit, I am getting sick of some on here who have been around for 5 minutes who just want a reaction and they are getting it and I'm about react too. (disappointed in myself) I'm not one of those hero worshipping fans, I'm a sensible, realistic female member who sees the value of Lance Franklin on the ground and Lance Franklin off the ground and that is the value to the Hawthorn Football Club. I have just about had it with people who single out Buddy and only Buddy in big games or finals. He isn't a one man band and can't do it all off his own boot. Maybe in these big games, the other 21 players could actually stand up and then the fact that Buddy hasn't kicked 5 or 6 goals wouldn't cause so much angst. Quite frankly I don't care what Lance does in his own time, I just want to see him give his very best out there on the ground and I have no doubt that every time he steps out there that is his intention.

I kept a close eye on Buddy on the weekend. He genuinely looked like was enjoying himself out there... as much as any previous year and he loved sticking it to the West Coast cheer squad and their Whale Mascot after he kicked that goal from the goal square.
He doesn't look like a man who wants out, that's for sure

Of course he was enjoying it - I'm just not sure how much that had to do with the Hawthorn jumper to be honest. With all the attention on him at the moment, it's no surprise he got pumped kicking the goals and sticking it up the weagles and naysayers.

People (including myself) are annoyed at his perceived selfishness, not only in terms of the contract debacle, but also in terms of his reported off-field behaviour and activities.

Nothing like shooting the messenger, particularly if she is a woman journalist.

Caro cops heat like no one else. We've all heard the Buddy stories, yet she is the only journo gutsy enough to print them.

Youve heard the Buddy stories have you!! Do you believe in the tooth fairy also?? Youve got all this evidence against Buddy dont you?? Gutsy journalism is to not write trash, but actually write something fullfilling and stimulating and heaven forbid truthful and positive!! His perceived selfishness?? So your not actually sure whether he is selfish, its just something that is percieved to be the case but not something definite!! Benji your percieved ignorance on Buddys contract situation is hilarious!!

depending on what you are talking about i am deadly serious !

he has done NOTHING wrong off field or on

so i am wondering what YOU are talking about !

So he lost his licence for nothing? So the GP stuff didn't happen?

Did we learn nothing from Carey or Ablett Snr? I know their stuff was different, but surely in 2013 we know better that to set our default response to allegations as "attack journalist"?

I've asked people to be civil. I even asked nicely.

If you want to head down that road of calling each other names or being sarcastic and smug at each others expense then there will be consequences.

The thread has now been cleaned up.
If you have an issue with posts being deleted, then PM a mod. Discussing or questioning it in here is not the way to go about it.

So he got a little drunk , him along with how many others! Did he bash anyone, no did he smash anything, no , was he charged no , so nothing bad happened there.

So he lost his licence , so, him and how many others lose it every day, he is or had paid the price of that like any other person speeding, no one was kills which is good, so no need to hang him for something he has paid for already and hopefully will not do again! He did a thing for that too on to of what the police gave him so that's good too cause he will have learnt allot from that too.

the media beat both of these up into something bigger then they were and both have already been dwelt with.

Nothing since then do all is good all that needs doing is him signing his contact when he is ready to do so that is with in his right too by the way he doesn't have to sign it till the other one is finished with .

So as far as I see that's it unless you can think of anything else to add .

There is almost no point engaging with you, as you are clearly in denial. Everyone here has heard more than what is written

Not everyone gets sucked in to the vitriol and dribble written by trash journalists such as Carro, John Ralph and co. though mate, don't let them suck you in.
Here's the thing. we have a prodigiously talented player on our list who has on multiple times knocked back the offers of huge money to go elsewhere and has stated on numerous times that he loves his mates at Hawthorn and wants to be a one club player. I for one will give him the benefit of the doubt and take him on his word that he will re-sign with us at the end of the season. He is worth sooooo much money to our footy club in memberships, merchandise etc as well as such an important player to our structure from a playing perspective. Despite what a few others may have you believe he has produced multiple times on the big stage. He is a nightmare matchup for the opposition and is absolute gold to watch play.

As for the rumours and innuendo.....it is what it is, rumours and innuendo. Nothing has been proven. While I don't think Buddy is an angel I don't think he is seriously that careless to jeapordise his entire future for a night on the town. If one percent of the things he is reported to have done are true then he would be out on his arse by now. I don't think our footy club would let him run amok like some have suggested he is doing. There is nothing wrong with having a couple of beers at the Grand Prix two weeks before the season starts. There is nothing wrong with having a few nights out while on leave in Vegas in the off season. Thousands of people lose their license every year. I have!

Here's an idea, don't listen to the whispers with regards to his contract or the BS party boy romours that have been circulating since 2007 (thats right since 2007) and just enjoy the Buddy show for what it is. He is freak of a footballer and we are lucky to have him among with many other great players in our squad at the moment that can seriously challenge for a flag.

YES lost his license don't deny that and it was BEAT UP by the media to make both worse then it was !

To be honest I have so little time for Buddy now I couldn't care less. If he worked half as hard as Mitchell he'd be twice the player he is now. He doesn't work that hard, he doesn't take his career seriously, and I hope we see the back of him in 9 months time.

For the conspiracy theorists out there, James O'Connor is now being linked to the Western Force next year. Ill go back to my tin foil hat now...

Please don't assert that Franklin doesn't work hard and doesn't care, as it's simply not true.

It looked to me that he was trying very hard on Sunday and he looked quite content playing in the team. His effort in the last quarter was a telling factor.
Why would he leave?
