New to footy-how to improve kick distance & fitness/endurance

Agree with this up until you're satisfied with your kicking technique. But after that it's good to practice kicking under fatigue to simulate match stressors.

    Skills Tackling

Yeah getting your fingers in the "arm hole" of the jumper is great. Especially if you're tackling from behind as you can drag them straight down easily and not push them in the back. But you have to be careful not to get them high.

What you need to do to prepare for the draft

Agility is becoming more and more important for big fellas like your self.

    Jumping

Settle down big fella, it is possible that what you've said and what hodgeisboss is saying are both correct. AA3 helps increase endurance, leap and repeat efforts but it's obvious that what you're saying makes sense as well. Plyometric training is power training and what it does is help with...

    Jumping

What he said. Not only does AA3 increase leap height but it does it in a way that can be sustained for a footy game. It also trains (forgotten the name) the thing which helps you recover from high intensity activity quickly, the thing which athletes who can do the repeat 20 meter sprints at a...

    Jumping

Wouldn't know an exact gain but I did definately gain something. The first time I jumped since doing the program in a sports scenario I almost stacked the landing because I landed a split second after what my brain is used to me landing. You know that weird sensation like when you're climbing...

    Jumping

The first time you do it (especially the squat hops) your knees hurt a bit. But as long as you warm up and down properly it's nothing to worry about. I only got to week 3 or 4 of AA3 but I noticed not only an improved leap but also a decent increase in acceleration off the mark. For the sore...

    Nomis Footy Boots?

Asics are just great boots all round. I bought some very basic Asics boots four years ago and they're still going strong. Comfy, good grip even in wet weather and just don't seem to break.

    Ugly Parent Syndrome

I did some junior umpiring for 4 odd years and not all the blame can be put on the parents. I ended up quiting because most of the older umps I worked with got some massive power rush out of it and were very arrogant among other little things which just set the parents off more. I only got...

Your worst Football Injury/** Not an original MF Thread**

Re: Your worst Football Injury/ I've been fairly lucky with footy. Worst is torn ligaments in my Ankle, the scar tissue still gives me trouble. Done my AC joint in both shoulders, now my shoulders are kinda morphed out of shape (put an end to my bowling in cricket). Been knocked out 12...
