A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Yeah, was going to say doesn't seem to have any obvious injuries. They should give him the month off, let him reset his season, if he can come back and have a good second half, then it sets him up well "going forward".

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Yep. Remember David Beckham and his magnificent curling free kicks for Manchester United and England? He used to take 100 of them after training every day, often do even more over the course of a day. I read a thing where Alex Ferguson said he knew Beckham would make it as top line player when...

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

What's the story with his knee? If he's playing injured it certainly won't help. Dunno about your season being over though, is only Round Six.

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Right now, yep, you'd be better off playing a kid and giving Joe a spell in the twos to make him realise how much hard work is required to be an elite AFL player. Not suggesting trading him (right now) but it certainly isn't working for him or the team right now. He made life very easy for the...

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

This, this, this. I said above a few pages back, but Joe has had the easiest ride into league footy imaginable - largely because of his enormous talent and size (which to paraphrase Ron Barassi to Malcolm Blight, came out the eye of his father's dick, he did nothing to earn it) and then his...

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Yep, and he clearly doesn't work hard enough off the field. You can see that in his body.

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Has relied on his talent only to the point where he has been savagely found out. One passage of play Grundy just embarrassed him one on one with power, strength and athleticism. Like a man against a boy. Joe is in poor physical condition. Weak, slow, gets pushed off it.

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

I know Brown is in rare form right now, but Joe is playing actively shit. Essendon would be better without him, giving a kid who actually wants it a game. Daniher trading on his name only at the moment.

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

This is why Brown is a far better kick for goal than Joe. https://coupler.foxsports.com.au/api/v1/article/amp/afl/revealed-the-incredible-dedication-behind-ben-browns-pinpoint-setshot-routine/news-story/83317524afb8161ddb982436500a0163?__twitter_impression=true

Touching that remains so. But will be interesting to see the talent - father/son is one of the great things about footy.

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Given one is from Tassie and the other spends most of his free time in the water between the Tassie and Victoria, I think they'd be right. Anyway, back on track, are there more mutant creations from the farm of horrors up at Ungarie on the way?

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

True, shame you guys didn't go under a few years ago after the doping stuff, allowing us to merge with you similar to what we proposed to Fitzroy. In that situation the AFL would have allowed us ten of your players to come over before giving the rest of the comp a go at the corpse. Daniher...

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Daniher has had a lot, lot more development ... or more correctly development opportunity ... than Brown. Daniher was AIS academy for a start. I posted earlier about how that's aspect of why Brown is far more reliable set shot. Brown has developed, and worked his arse off, to get a top notch...

But Generous Joe has given away hundreds of goals.

Like his handpass in the square against the Dogs? Dusty creates for his teammates.

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

There is something about the shrill hysteria of Essendon fans in these situations that is just mesmerising. I have trolled them plenty of the journey, but actually spent this thread praising Daniher, and they still end up screeching that finals goals blah blah, when you know were the situation...

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

I have managed to go this entire thread without trolling Essendon or Daniher, resisting the urge to write something about how he's a massively overrated horse faced chode gifted games on the grounds of surname, or something similar, because it isn't true (apart from him being horrifically ugly)...

And that's why Richo never kicked 100 either.

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Daniher is a very, very good player, and a gun when "on", dunno if I'd say he's an absolute gun just yet. Certainly creates lots of opportunities for your smaller forwards, and yep, he's very exciting in full flights. Out of form, possibly, probably. And was a good kick for a period of one...

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

That analysis was taken over a short period of one year. Daniher's goal kicking issues have been around for years - pretty much as long as he has. In fact, there's a compelling argument thatlast year was the exception, rather than the rule.

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Yep, this is the key bit. Why in God's name did he try and kick that one across his body on the weekend? Why did he handball in the square last week? I think you have to look at how he came into the game, especially in comparison with Brown. Joe knew he was getting drafted to Essendon from...

A 100 goal season & Joe Daniher: is he overwhelmingly the most capable player of achieving it again?

Joe Daniher could kick 100 goals in a season. I think it unlikely though due to his poor kicking for goal. Ben Brown is more likely to kick 100 goals in a season, and his very accurate kicking for goal is a key part of that. Bad kicking is bad football.

Moved Thread Josh Kelly vs Marcus Bontempelli - who would you take now

Well, I think we know the answer to this question once and for all now. Kelly the better mid, and the better forward. Bont does well in a front running team that gets looked after by the umpires as the Dogs were a few years ago when the AFL needed them to do well to get them out of the...

No, but he didn't sign for six years at GWS either. He'll be a North player.

I reckon he'll be at North 2020. Yep. I mean jeez, he's already on record as saying he was happy to come to us.
