I did get back to back all-SFAs from CHB in my earlier days as a Bear, but that was a very long time ago

These days we take a more team approach alongside the trusty platypus formation if you get my drift

You still make a good point though. Sure, we'll always have our champion emergency FB JoshWoodenSpoon but maybe it's time we trained up an emergency CHB too

The Las Vegas Bears kicked off Season 39 and their 25th season in the Sweet FA in style, dismantling the Furies at the Stadium in the Sky. The Bears came out swinging, booting the first six goals of the match, with Bears debutant Ocha905 slotting the second for his first goal in Bears colours. I Dont Care led the charge both on the scoreboard and in his ongoing campaign of Furie related violence. The Bears, looking for some good PR, allowed charity case NaturalDisaster to slot the Furies' first goal, but the generosity ended there as the Bears piled on another five unanswered majors to take a commanding 54 point lead into halftime.

The second half was little more than a glorified stat padding exercise, as both teams tried to make their numbers look respectable for the All-SFA selectors. The highlight of the half came late, with Grin slotting the final goal in his first game back after three seasons in exile. Debutant @spinynorman’s first outing was memorable for all the wrong reasons, getting pulled off after just two minutes before returning for a grand total of one kick and one handball. Fellow new recruit Ocha905 fared slightly better, gathering four touches and snagging his first goal in Bears colours. The Bears wrapped up the win by 48 points, a promising start to the new season.

Art Vandelay_ kicked off the year in style, becoming the first Bear to kick 300 goals for the club with a dominant 5 goal haul. I Dont Care did what he does best, flattening Furies and slotting 3 majors, while Matera92 and MKMatty each chipped in with two. Ocha905 also hit the scoreboard in his first outing for the club, marking a solid debut.

The drug testers will have their hands full after a few Bears put in eyebrow raising performances. Millky95 racked up 25 touches and a goal, while SSSSSS impressed with 23 disposals, seven marks, and a goal. RonnieRaven, MWPP, and Chipmunk all collected 18 touches, with Cap adding 17 and 16 hitouts, and MKMatty contributing 15 disposals, nine marks, and two goals. But the Unsung Hero of the Match goes to JoshWoodenSpoon, who had 8 touches while keeping Bonz to a single kick; more of that could see the Bears having a terrific season.

Introducing: "Ocha's Good Onya"



Hello fellow Bears. Each week I wish to highlight some of the many wonderful contributions made in the Match Thread. Please excuse the typical poor formatting. It might improve but probably not.

This week's overview is going to be atypical in that I was AWOL for most of the week (Which is my loss as by all accounts a fantastic week was had by all with the rejuvenated Furies). Ergo I'll be highlighting a wholistic contribution instead of specific posts just for this round.

So without further ado here's to Millky95 for an immense Week 1. Millky was the equivalent of the teammate who yell's "GET AROUND HIM/HER/THEM" after every goal, tackle or break. A massive 141 posts of fun and banter in the Match Thread plus contributions aplenty in the team PM as well gave the team a massive spark that even the Sim seemed to have a sense of occasion and rewarded for once. Good onya Millky.

An unsung hero though I'd like to tip my cap to is Grin who's talismanic reappearance in Las Vegas was much appreciated and hopefully a sign of things to come. Good onya Grin.

I could have highlighted virtually any teammates and hopefully I will throughout the season.
