Welcome officially spinynorman and Ocha905 . You have both made a huge impact at offseason training - beating Test Tickle on his morning 'laps'.
Credit to Test Tickle for the confidence boost. I mean no offence but I hope to be elevated from the skinfolds group asap!

And thanks for the welcome from you all! I hope despite not achieving the desired results onfield, tonight can be a celebration of your significant contributions to the Bears community.

LOL JoshWoodenSpoon 1 vote, WHAT FOR, most time spent in a goal square?
Its tough work watching your opponent start a 9 goal comeback, my guess the 1 vote is for finally stopping the opposition Full Forward from kicking the winning goal.

Leading Goalkicker.png

Ladies and gentlemen, our Leading Goalkicker award goes to Art Vandelay_, who somehow made playing Full Forward look both effortless and chaotic at the same time. Sure, some might say winning this award is a given when you’re parked at Full Forward all season, but Art tested that theory by going touchless in Round 1. He quickly redeemed himself with a 7 goal haul in Round 2, just to remind us he knows exactly where the big sticks are.

With 44 goals and 34 behinds for the season, Art perfected the "keep them guessing" approach to goal kicking. And as for sharing the ball? Let’s just say Art’s 78 scoring shots from 97 possessions proves he’s a proud graduate of the "sharing is overrated" academy. Though with only one free kick received all season, it seems the umpires weren’t in the mood to share either.

What really stood out, though, were his 18 tackles, the 6th highest for the Bears. We’d love to know how many of those were on Matera92, just to keep him from stealing the limelight or the goals.

Please give a big round of applause for our Leading Goalkicker, Art Vandelay_!

Best Forward.png

Tonight, we’re proud to present the Best Forward award to MWPP! With 27 goals for the season, the 2nd highest tally for the Bears and a Forward Pocket spot in the All-SFA team, she’s once again shown why she’s one of our most reliable stars up front.

Her 58 kicks resulted in an incredible 50 scoring shots, highlighting her ability to create opportunities under pressure. Sure, a few more of those could have been goals, but let’s not nitpick, her impact on the scoreboard was undeniable.

Off the field, MWPP’s contributions have been equally impressive. Whether through her work in the Leadership Group or her detailed and engaging round writeups, she’s gone above and beyond to make this club better.

Well done, MWPP, you’ve delivered in every way this season!

Be careful what you wish for J Dub, and ready for a reprehensible rendition of this Veronica Mars classic -

Great! Then I can cover your version and maybe by that time we'll have gone full circle to being palatable again.

Round 5 Recap: Bears 114 - 100 Gumbies
After last week’s royal flogging, the Bears bounced back in style to celebrate @kane249’s 350th and @Electronic_Renaissance’s 100th game with a thrilling 14 point win over the Gumbies. Matera92 started like a house on fire with three quick goals before promptly clocking off to admire @Kane’s milestone brilliance. Art Vandelay stole the show with six majors, including five clutch second half goals, while kane249 celebrated his big day by rucking, roving, and scoring like he was 249 games younger. Chipmunk racked up disposals like a compulsive collector, and ShAdOw Man’s engine room heroics kept the Gumbies at bay. Despite the Gumbies’ late charge, a trio of final quarter goals sealed the win, sending us to 3-2 on the season and ready to take on the undefeated Demons.

It's the circle of life. Good karaoke leads to good times --> Good times leads to bad karaoke --> Bad karaoke leads to bad times... no wait bad karaoke is hilarious... disregard this analogy entirely!

Where was I?

Something something... well done last season's Bears!

Yay, well done MWPP! (Who's also a pretty good recruiter despite their own humility)

Round 6 Recap: Demons 124 - 72 Bears
The Bears' trip to the Snow Dome was less of a battle and more of a frosty lesson, as the undefeated Demons skated to a 52 point win. Art Vandelay_ kept the scoreboard ticking with four goals, and Chipmunk was everywhere, racking up touches like he was trying to warm his hands. Cap chipped in with a goal and plenty of grunt work, while Shadow Man added another solid performance. But from the moment we rushed that first behind, it was like we had a contract to help the Demons pad their percentage. The Snow Dome left us chilled to the core, but with the bye next week, we’ve got time to thaw out and regroup. Bring on Round 8!

spinynorman!

Almost sounds like a Tandy competitor. :eyes:
We'll take whatever competitors we can get after a few dozen lean years on field.
Welcome matey. :)

Round 7 Recap: Bears 0 - 0 Bye
Round 8 Recap: Bears 88 - 96 Hawks

The Bears ventured to the stadium in the sky for a breezy clash with the Hawks, celebrating @MWPP’s 250th and test Tickle’s 200th milestone games. Things started promisingly, with the wind at our backs and Matera92 finally remembering how to kick a goal after eight quarters of sightseeing. But as the game wore on, the breeze turned against us, literally and the Hawks snatched an 8 point win. Art Vandelay_'s late heroics into the wind gave us a glimmer of hope, but it was like trying to run a Vegas craps table with Monopoly money, too little, too late. Cheers to Millky95, who snagged 7 free kicks; rumour has it the umps loved the casino buffet vouchers he slipped their way!

Is this one of those ancient BnF winners from Season 5???

welcome back king :crown:
Naturally. Our legendary captain came into the SFA after a stray tag afterall. And it turns out Cap was playing in the league (for a side that shall remain anonymous) back when Dingster was a youngin. Bodes well for ShAdOw but watch out RookiePick :p

Round 9 Recap: Bears 72 - 84 Swamprats
The Bears took on the Rats in a muddy showdown that felt more like swamp rugby than footy. After a rough start that had us chasing tails early, MWPP and Matera92 kept us in it with some timely goals. By halftime, the Rats had bolted to a 40 point lead, leaving us stuck in the mud figuratively and literally. A fiery third quarter saw Senor M, MKMatty, and Shadow Man spark a comeback, and we stormed home in the final term, with Senor M leading the charge. But @Art Vandelay_’s kicking radar seemed set to “spray,” and the Rats held on by 12 points. Still, it was a valiant effort and proof the Bears don’t back down, even when the conditions are a total bog.
