Our 16th flag is our best flag ever

  • First flag in September in 65 years
  • First close grand final win
  • Had one of the hardest draws
  • Overcame our bogey teams in Melbourne and Brisbane
  • Written off at the start of the year
  • Overcame injuries and suspensions

Had plenty of Andrews sweat stains on it though. He did not give him an inch.

This is what a lot of buffoons have missed in regard to Frampchises performance.

Andrews played an almost career best game the week prior, he didn't get a sniff of it until the final term of the GF. Big Bill was enormous in the role he played.

Did he spill 1-2 sitters? Yes?

Is he now a premiership player at the Pies? Ken fcukin oath!

Exactly. Once McStay was unavailable, we knew we didn't have a tall forward option left with AJ also being injured.

If we got 1 goal out of Big Bill, it would have been a bonus. In fact, he was incredibly disciplined to stay in that defensive mode for 3 qtrs. Sure, Andrews played better in the last, but it's very rare for a good player to be kept quiet for a full game.

I thought it was incredibly smart coaching by Fly to use Frampton in that way after losing McStay, knowing we didn't have a replacement.

And Bill continues to show his ability to play the role asked of him. Whether it be ruck, defender or "defensive forward tagger" 😆

Agree

Fly may have innovated a new key position!
The forward defender! It's how you negate the really dangerous interceptors.

100%

This buffoon is very happy and celebrating our full-forward's victory in keeping the opposition full-back goalless.

I'm gonna be a little bit selfish here, in saying that I'm sure there are many similar stories from our most famous victory, with other Pie families on here.

It's taken a little time to muster the courage to share it with you all.

If any others have similar stories I invite you to share with our BF Collingwood brethren the positivism and happiness it brings.

My sister all of 55 years old, 2 months was diagnosed with uterine cancer, they've giver her two years. In the days leading afterwards in her normal positive as a rock mentality, in my long 2 hours of phone conversation with me from Perth, she was very upbeat about how well we were doing this season (albeit we weren't doing superly well during our slump).

None the less our conversation was more about positive than anything negative, the possibility of a flag was the conversation.

I declared in our conversation that our boys were going to win the cup for her this year. 'Angie's game'. I'm sure there were nervous moments for her during the finals, even given she has bigger fish to fry. None the less it's clear she wanted this.

Ever since she was diagnosed she has been nothing but on the front in fighting this with nothing but looking at each day as a gift. Without going into to too much detail she has received excellent news from her oncologist, surgery, and a possibility that she may survive and beat this.

Edit: I pre booked flights to Melbourne to be with my Pie mad family and friends in December last year. Before anyone knew of her upcoming opponent, in the anticipation that we might just win it!

My best friend of since primary school (40+ years) is also another mad Pie family, not being able to visit my sister on the day, as she was just coming out from a bout of chemo. My bestie (my bro) invited me to join him, his brother and his 92 yo father < who also has prostate cancer at his Dad's place - we all consider each other family, certainly his dad has indeed been a great father figure since my primary school age.

It may be his last chance to watch his beloved Pies win another flag.

The feeling was overwhelming when that siren went the amount of joy, the ensuing phone call to my sister 'Told ya we'd do it!!' The ensuing phone calls to everyone else in the family and every other Pie I know in the coming hours and days.

The hugging, the toasting of our cans, the singing the song, our own Coooollllliiinnnggggwwwooooddd Chant! (Even the old man put in his best fervor).

As much as this is a horrible situation for both my sister and my 'father' it has literally been the best time since finals began for them, the anticipation finally realized and granted by the footy gods. Most certainly for my 'father' who may have got one last euphoric Pies moment, and maybe not the last for my sister of steely resolve. (Cmon footy gods at least one more)

Lastly an apology, I know sometimes I can get down on our less than successful 60 odd years and lament how the club has ruined its self made opportunities.

Please view this as a positive story, I'll kindly request no sad face emoji likes - please.

Any way Floreat Pica!

Its been a week. I still havent watched the full replay. Havent had time, as I scheduled a holiday post GF. Im currently in the daintree rainforest. Ive consumed a fair bit of media post, such as the pod casts and the kayo mini and post GF AFL360. Just waiting to get home to sit down with a bottle of red, close the curtains and put the feet up.

I was lucky enough to be at the ground. It still hasnt fully sunk in.

some thoughts...

-Pendleburys composure.
  • CLutch post siren and long bomb goals
  • Relentless pressure
  • Cox standing up
  • Crisp being a consistent weapon
  • Naicos, De goey etc.

IQ!!!!!!!!!!

Im just so grateful.

Thanks for listening. Floreat Pica.

just listened to some of the SEN commentary. Did anyone else notice how excited Dwayne Russell was with Collingwood ? you can tell the MMM box didn't share the same joy.
Yes. Gerard and Kane didn't look as enthused.
Dwayne been ok in several games this year..

He is one of Collingwood's biggest supporters on sen when people call up & criticise us. A big fan of Nick too. Won't hear a bad word said about him. He got quite emotional after the GF & was so happy with the quality of the match.
