Did you know that there is an award at the Dragons called the Pie 4 Life Medal? It rewards the best clubman at Dragon Island: the person who goes above and beyond to support the club, even when not asked. The person who steps up when need. Previous winners include club luminaries such as Danoz, Determinant, Blaze Storm and Knifey Spoony, whilst the ever reliable A Swallow has won it in three separate seasons! Curiously the player whose name the award is named after won it last seasonā€¦the moment he managed to weasel his way into the leadership group. Who says corruption is a thing of the past?

This season though, there can be no disputing the clearly worthy winner ā€“ as Dragons ruck Strigoi is named Best Clubman!

Her on-field work is first class, and with 1002 league hitouts she is ranked second in Dragonsā€™ history ā€“ quickly closing the gap on record holder Hate too! But Strigs has been an ever-present part of Dragons match threads and the team PM for the past six seasons now, and her loyalty and friendship is beyond question. Everyone in the league knows Strigs, and everyone knows she is a Dragon.

So thank you Strigoi for being you, and congratulations on winning the Pie 4 Life Medal!
Awwwwā€¦thank you! I love my Dragon boys! And they know it!

I am proud to announce that the WINNER of the Ljp86 Medal in Season 33 is Dragons FFC rover and my co-captain T2B_! T2B_ has been a tremendous force in the Dragons team for the past few seasons, and it is fantastic to see him get some recognition with the most prestigious of awards at the club.

T2B_ joined us back in Season 30 off the back of the failed Vampires bid, and along with fellow rookies VandoHawk, Bradesmaen, MC Bad Genius and Gosaints15 he went about making a name for himself in the league and endeared himself to many.

Over time he earnt himself a spot in the Dragons midfield, and at some point he found himself in the teamā€™s leadership group. Then when I started considering a successor midway through Season 32 it became obvious that T2B_ would be the perfect person for the captaincy role ā€“ a true Dragon for Life. He took some of the reigns this season, with the intent to be standing tall by himself in Season 34 ā€“ and I have no doubt that he will perform the role with aplomb.

T2B_ is well respected in the league, and a steady stream of beez votes and Mobbs Medal votes shows his weighty standing in the league both on and off the qooty field.

He was a constant presence in Dragons match thread this season with an incredible 1199 match thread posts, and was unanimously selected into the Season 33 All-SFA team off the back of a perfect season as rover ā€“ 17 Mobbs Medal votes and several best-on-grounds a just reward following a league high 1451 Dreamteam Points.

A truly worthy winner, and without doubt a key figure in the Dragons FFC club. He joins some of the Dragons elite, including Ljp86, Strigoi, A Swallow, AceAndy, Blaze Storm, Pie 4 Life, Hatchy1992, Bonz, Volbeat, Hate, Danoz, chefmeister, The Filth Wizard, Gibbsy and myself.

Congratulations to your deserved winner of the Ljp86 Medal: T2B_!

Aw shucks, honestly thought I'd just get pipped in this one. And why not, such strong competition around me and multiple worthy winners.

The Dragon for Life slogan I throw around is one I am actually serious about. Everyone is different, and some people like to move around and experiment (cough Bonz) and change things up, and others are happy to stay at home and be one club players. I am the latter.

I do indeed go into Season 34 with massive, incredible sized shoes to fill. I'd like to thank serial_thrilla for being an amazing co-captain and just generally an incredible force in the club since I got here. I don't for one minute think I can do everything thrilla has done justice, but I do know I'll put my all in and do everything to make sure this awesome club goes the right direction.

Thanks to all the Dragons, and I look forward to leading you out in Season 34.

P.S awesome placing for Strigoi - take THAT Coach AceAndy !

Wow, this has been a wild night already - and I havenā€™t even made my way to the bar yet! Freeā€¦I heardā€¦woohoo! šŸ˜šŸ„‚

Congratulations to all the winners! We had a bumper crop of newbies this past season. Itā€™s been a pleasure posting and playing with everyone. Looking forward to next season! Serial Thrilla will be missed as captain, but Iā€™m looking forward to our next adventure under the helm of T2B_! Should be very interesting. šŸ˜

Iā€™ll just saunter over to the barā€¦

Congratulations Strigoi T2B_ Braklet DragoDelph and everyone at the Dragon's <3

I would also like to give a big thank you to serial_thrilla

Hands down I think you are the best captain in this league (by quite a fair bit as well). You reignited my passion for the SFA and assisted me take my posting to whole new toe curling positions levels.

I have loved every second I have spent at the Dragon's and I can guarentee I will be back.

This is not a permanent farewell, think of it as a loan agreement whilst I go out and be part of history somewhere :)

Keep that FF spot warm for me.

No surprise here. Outstanding season T2B_ and congrats again. Special mention to Strigoi and DragoDelph finishing equal third.

Unlucky for Bonz to finish second in both awards by a vote. Trust me, I know more than most how much that sucks this season šŸ˜‚

First and foremost, I'd like to thank the entire team for their efforts in this thread, match threads and in the team PM this season. Without you all turning up each week to get competitive over a simulated text game, we'd just be looking at numbers. Pie 4 Life and Ljp86 may have preferred it like that, but I think it is incredible to see how the league has evolved over the decades to the position it is in now. From coriander to Rebecca Black and flat faced cats. And let's not forget the epic saga that was #grandfinalrematch! Thank you all.

I'd also like to thank my valuable Leadership Group. Pie 4 Life, Bonz, T2B_ and Ljp86. Youā€™ve all chipped in at various points this season when required, and your help in planning #grandfinalrematch was what made it so great. Your efforts are undeniably crucial for how our club operates. You all deserve a pat on the back for a job well done. Thanks to all four of you.

We ended up having quite the season in S33; after a shaky start to our title defence, we shifted up a few gears and finished the season off with a wet sail to win the last seven games and claim the minor premiership out of nowhere. After being blessed by the weather gods we dominated the league statistics and were rewarded with some great accolades come awards season. The finals campaign started off great with the qualifying final win, but alas we fell just short in that fateful preliminary final against eventual premiers the Roys.

We now get to have a few well-deserved weeks off during the off-season, before we hit the trenches once more in August. I hope to see all of you come Round 1 Season 34! Weā€™ll likely have a very similar group to this season, but Iā€™m happy to announce that Dragons life member and good friend A Swallow will be making a return! There may be one or two more surprises, but our focus will be on another good crop of rookies following the success we had with that this season. We shall also say a brief farewell for our mate Bonz, who is going off on an Old Boys adventure - we hope to see him here on Dragon Island one day soon.

This is also my last act as captain for Dragons FFC. As planned T2B_ will be taking over as your sole skipper in Season 34, and I am confident we are all in capable hands. I will no doubt enjoy the freedom of just being a regular Dragon with no responsibilities! I have been honoured to lead this team for the past three seasons, and with a premiership trophy, two minor premierships, several All-SFA representatives and numerous awards for us to go with it Iā€™m proud of what weā€™ve achieved as a club in that time. Thank you all!

Regards,
serial_thrilla

The award formerly known as the Captain's Encouragement Award is generally reserved for a Dragons player who shows signs that they are on the cusp of becoming a big name in the Sweet FA. They may have been semi-engaged in match threads in the past, but they are now beginning to stretch their wings, and have the personality and skills to become a household name in Sweet. Previous winners include current Dragons Stoods, Bradesmaen, Strigoi and Blaze Storm, but legendary Dragons players such as Andonis1997 and Volbeat have previously won in their early years. In recognition of a current Dragons Life Member, it has been decided to tweak the name of this award, and it shall from now on be known as the Knifey Spoony Footlong Encouragement Award.

The player who receives the Footlong Encouragement Award in Season 33 is our centre half forward Braklet.

As mentioned in the Blaze Storm Medal announcement, Braklet has fitted in seamlessly at the Dragons. As he has gained confidence and an appreciation of the history and intricacies of the league he has also begun to branch out and make himself known in the world of Sweet Media and in the other distant corners of the league. He has built himself a reputation already, and appears to be building a solid network of friends across many teams (the Roys and Bombers in particular seem to be big fans). I have no doubt that Braklet will be an integral part of the Sweet FA going forward.

Congratulations Braklet, we look forward to many milestones to come!

Many thanks for the award, Dragons LG! I shall struggle forth to carry Knifey Spoony's Footlong in an appropriately erect fashion for the upcoming season.

(let's all hope Bonz doesn't shoop the Budgie Smuggler pic in an unflattering manner...) :D

Yay Strigoi, many congratulations! Proud to be on your team.

In the end though, an EKA Award and Rising Star Award for Drago were too difficult to ignore, and I am proud to announce that the Season 33 Blaze Storm Medal winner to be DragoDelph.

Congratulations DragoDelph! If they asked for my vote on this stuff, it would go to you.

Proud to share your S33 rookie class.

Pie 4 Life or Joel Selwood, not sure who dives more

"The reason why Pie 4 Life or maybe (Geelong captain) Joel Selwood gets a lot of head-high free kicks is because he's probably the hardest at the football, a loose ball and at a contest in the competition, so he's rewarded for it.

"If you've got techniques that ultimately entice a clumsy or undisciplined tackle then good luck to him and he deserves every free kick that he gets.

This is great. Couldn't happen to a riper superfood! (Yes, I love me some guacamole, why do you ask?)

Congratulations, T2B_!

OK - I need to put the kids to bed before my wife throttles me. I'll post my closing statement in an hour or so.
In the meantime please don't drink the paid bar dry.

Hey Skipper, many thanks for all the work you put in on this S33 awards night! And thanks to the LG for all you do.

Mrs. Braklet already thinks I'm nuts for paying so much attention to this simulated fantasy sports stuff, I can only imagine what ire Mrs. Thrilla dreams up.

At the end of Season 31 the club made the difficult decision to part ways with Coach Dr Phil McGraw. And by ā€œdifficultā€ I actually mean ā€œeasyā€, as he did a terrible job resting on his laurels after the Season 28 premiership. In his place was raised former Dragons FFC skipper AceAndy to take the coaching reigns and rescue us from the disaster of Season 31. Now Ace made some rather suspect decisions over the course of his debut season, including insane strategies such as replacing star full forward Bonz with rookie DJ75 at a crucial part of a game, and dragging superstar Strigoi from the ruck during the Grand Final of all gamesā€¦ but luckily for him we won the premiership, so the madman got to keep his job. For another season.

This season he was back at it, with his Crazy Andy substitutions still a key part of his coaching strategy, and poor Strigoi more often than not being the ā€œvictimā€. Luckily for him we nabbed the minor premiership once more and went deep into the finals series. Andy has therefore been given another one season contract extension.

Each week Coach gives a 3-2-1 vote on the best performers for the Dragons from the sim output, with matchup results, opposition performance and raw statistics all considered. The player with the most votes come the end of the season is awarded the Coachā€™s MVP Award.

The winner of the Season 33 Coach AceAndy's MVP at the Dragons is ruck rover Pie 4 Life! He pipped full forward Bonz by a solitary vote, and was a couple votes clear of fellow midfielder T2B_. Pie 4 Life has been a mainstay of the Dragons for many seasons now. Many, many, many seasons. So much so that he went on his fifteen-year long service leave a few seasons back. In recent times he has been revitalised though, and after working his way into the leadership group and re-earning his stripes he once again has found himself in a key position. In season 33 he was elite, as he earned a long desired All-SFA guernsey, and ended up on the cusp of a Mobbs Medal victory. His 118 tackles were the stuff of legends and Iā€™m sure heā€™ll live off it for the next twenty years. Well done Pie 4 Life!

For the record, the day that I replaced Bonz at FF in what could only be described as an absolutely insane move, I kicked the winning goal.

It's a very thin line between genius and insanity.

Congratulations to all award winners! Very well deserved, and a huge congratulations to T2B_. taking out the Ljp86 medal is no easy task!

A very big thank you to our wonderful captain serial_thrilla for all you've put in for not just tonight, but over the course of the season and of course the last couple of seasons. Thank you to our leadership group of T2B_ , Pie 4 Life , Ljp86 and Bonz for making sure things all ran smoothly.

And of course a huge thank you to my fellow Dragons. Thanks for making this season a very enjoyable one. We have a very good culture at the Dragons and that's a testament to you all. I love turning up to match threads each and every week with my fellow Dragons. Although we didn't quite get the fairytale finish we were after, it was a very successful season overall. From clinching the minor premiership after a shaky start to finishing just short of a grand final, we can all hold our heads up high.

Good luck to Bonz at the old boys, hopefully we see you back here one day.

Looking forward to the new season already!

Congratulations to T2B_ on his maiden best and fairest award, well deserved after a great season. Well done also to Bonz and Strigoi on second and third place respectively in the count, it was a very tight finish in the end with a number of players able to win the award so it shows how even we were as a team at times during the season. :thumbsu:

Congratulations also to Pie 4 Life on the MVP award as well as the club's best in the Mobbs Medal and a maiden All-SFA guernsey, very well deserved after such a good season. :thumbsu:

Great work by DragoDelph to claim the Blaze Storm Medal after close competition from Braklet who secured the Knifey Spoony Footlong Encouragement Award. A fantastic season by two rookie players at the club and to have a top two sweep in the EKA Medal was a great result for all. :thumbsu:

Congratulations to Bonz on claiming the Hatchy1992 Medal and also winning the Fred Medal, a great way to finish the season with a prominent showing up forward all season. :thumbsu:

Well done to Strigoi on the Pie 4 Life Medal, really great stuff after having a bit of a tough time with the sim at times. Would have been a sight to see had you spent more time in the ruck in Season 33. :thumbsu:

Congratulations also to our remaining award winners and also serial_thrilla for a great count. You deserve a well earned rest after another great season leading the club and I have no doubt that the club will step to continue on your good work. :thumbsu:

Season 33 was a great season despite the result in the preliminary final, the club has had a lot of success this season and is something we can be proud of as a group. Hopefully we can come out firing in Season 34 under the leadership of T2B_. :thumbsu:

May I just say congratulations to all the award winners and apologies for missing the count. I will give it a proper read when I get a little more time but it looks like a fantastic count as per usual
