Final lineups have been named.

Tasmanian Tigers:
Ben Dunk
Mark Cosgrove
Alex Doolan
Ricky Ponting
Jonathan Wells
Tim Paine (c/wk)
Luke Butterworth
Jason Krejza
Evan Gulbis
Ben Hilfenhaus
Adam Maher
Andrew Fekete (12th)

In: Krejza, Hilfenhaus, Maher, Ponting, Wells
Out: George Bailey (ODI), Jackson Bird (India tour), Aiden Blizzard (omitted), Xavier Doherty (ODI), James Faulkner (ODI)

The first Shield match for the Tigers since their innings victory against WA in late November. Tassie lose three key players in Bailey, Bird and Faulkner but are somewhat compensated in replacements in Ponting and Hilfenhaus.

NSW SpeedBlitz Blues:
Scott Henry
David Dawson
Tim Cruickshank
Nic Maddinson
Ben Rohrer (c)
Peter Nevill (wk)
Trent Copeland
Adam Zampa
Josh Hazlewood
Doug Bollinger
Christopher Tremain
Sean Abbott (12th)

In: Cruickshank, Hazlewood, Maddinson, Zampa (12th)
Out: Brad Haddin (rested), Moises Henriques (India tour), Steve O'Keefe (webbing), Steve Smith (India tour)

Haddin has been ordered by CA to rest, meaning that Nevill will resume keeping duties. Hazlewood returns to boost the fast bowling lineup but with all rounders O'Keefe and Henriques missing the NSW tail does look a little long. Rohrer will captain the side for only the 2nd time in his career, despite only earning a recall in the last Shield game.

Weather
Wednesday: 15-32. Mostly sunny. Chance of rain 5%
Thursday: 16-27. Mostly sunny. Chance of rain 12%
Friday: 15-24. Partly cloudy. The chance of showers early in the morning. Chance of rain 20%
Saturday: 15-24. Partly cloudy. Isolated showers in the afternoon and evening Chance of rain 41%

Tasmania won the toss and have decided to bat first.

why the **** is Haddin being rested? He wont be playing test cricket again. Unless they're going to put him in for Wade for the last couple of matches. Our average batting lineup has been made worse thanks to CA.

Hopefully Hazlewood kills it

Great to see Zampa get a game. That NSW batting lineup looks shaky, Copeland at 7 too. Probably a spot too high.
2 spots too high... I would have played Abbot at 7 and dropped Tremain.

Tassie for me. I want NSW to win (ugh, that's disgusting) but Tassie has more stability in their line up.

Went away for a bit, next minute Ponting is in. Anyone see the wickets?
Cossie got a good nut. Doolan went appeal, 4, out lbw. not sure on the third

Next 2 wickets are key here. Butterworth is a solid bat but not 7 material IMO, if they can get to him and into the tail quickly they could be chasing under 200 for FIP

Butters is an excellent number 7. Averages 27 playing at bellerive.
27 isn't a good FC average. Well, not good enough to be batting at 7 anyway.

That NSW batting lineup looks shaky

Shaky is a very diplomatic way of putting it.

To think not long ago we had Katich, Jaques, Warner, Hughes and Khawaja as the top five... less than 24 months ago that was.

And how solid is Tassie's quick bowling unit - Faulkner, Bird out, comes in Maher and Gulbis to join up with Butterworth and Hilfenhaus. At state level they're pretty handy to come in at numbers 5 and 6 in your pace bowling list.
