Good stuff Krejza...second first class ton and his high score. Definitely not harming his chances of keeping his spot, you'd think (do Tassie have any other half-decent spinners when X-Do isn't around?).

There’s a young orthodox spinner, a teenager called Harrison Allanby who the scouts say has some interest. Is currently on a tas second XI tour and bowling relatively well by reports. He is also supposed to have bowled well in the futures twenty/20 competition in Melbourne

Ah yeah, Allanby, I remember my mate mentioning him when we were talking about SLA prospects. I know they dropped Marc Simonds so I couldn't recall if there were any others, cheers.

yikes that kept low, pitch playing up already, nsw bowling is very plain on a flat deck no slower balls field in close, the young leggie had all the fieldsmen on the fence no slip or anything, seems they are jsut bowling him ti fill in time...tassie will hit out till tea,
great to see ricky smashing it around the park like the old days sill bit left in the old dog yet

no who ever number 22 is for nsw he better make a good score cose at each over he stands there an shadow bats its weird haha

If Punter makes a double ton will a declaration be on the cards soon after? Or maybe some expansive hitting?

Bat til near tea, with the aim of not batting again

Yeah when they cut the size of state squads you had to weigh it up between Allanby and Simonds, who averaged somewhere in the high 50s for his grade wickets last year, Or Allenby who averaged about 17... it was a no brainer. I think Simo went home to the La Trobe area too, didn’t hang around.

well that pretty much sums up NSW cricket for the last 5 years

season more or less in the line. not completely, but loser of this game would face a serious uphill battle to make the final. The 6 points in 3 games is gettable if you play well (7 for NSW, a crucial additional point) but also need to leapfrog 3 teams to get a final spot. have the opposition 6/130 and then the next partnership is nearly 300 before declaring (and to rub salt into the wounds a former member of the NSW set up notched up only his second FC century as one half of that partnership)...

uggggghh

He has fallen a fair way down the pecking order.

Tas are lucky it was a Bird in Hilf out switch, and Hilf didn't end up carrying drinks in India.

It's a shame, because Hilf is still in the top 10 ranked bowlers in the world. But he is no automatic starter anymore. Australia just has so many good quicks to choose from.

So good to see Ponting showing everyone he still has it! What a player he has been!

They ran in to R.T. Ponting though. No shame in getting knocked around the park by an inform Ponting whatsoever.

This D Dawson bloke… Tassie had a guy playing with them who had the same surname and initials for a while but it cant be the same guy………..Not with his score in double figures.
apparently it is

No Ponting is a great bat but from that position we should've been able to get through the rest of them (and most likely Ponting would've fallen anyway as the pressure built up with partners running out)... Unless we manage to salvage 2 points in here (unlikely), or at least keep Tassie to only 2 points* there will be much soul searching in the dressing room after the game. It's been a pretty average season yet we got ourselves in with a great chance at getting within a point of a finals spot with 3 rounds remaining and we've gone 80% of the way to blowing it.

*Doesn't really help our cause but it's better than giving another finals aspirant 6 points

This game is certainly not over. We are missing Faulks and Bird, and Hilfy is coming back from injury. This is the leanest our usually excellent bowling line up has looked for ages, and your openers have done well so far in getting through the new ball. Should be a good contest. Tassie are a fighting team and I it is certainly not the first time that our tail has wagged, but I can understand your disappointment.
