big H seemed to be blowing pretty hard at training today, but more concerning, basti came out last with left knee strapped, ran a lap or two and straight back to rooms, harps also ran laps with injured players tarrant, white, and another, but joined in full training for a while and also left the track early,if neither of these boys come up atley and cunnington would be perfect replacements

I like these dilemmas. Shows we are moving into as strong place.

I would like to see H play this week but that is a personal want as I just like the thought of Goldy and Hamish working in tandem and tearing oppositions clubs a new one. I can also see Goldy and H contributing 2-4 goals per game between them, resting in the forward line. Both are mobile and would require close attention which frees up others.

Make it happen BON.

Kangas are milestone specialists.

Bring in the monster for his 100 games and watch the boys commemorate the occasion with a big win.

In for me.
We're doing this one (and Richmond) for Brady. We can do it for Hamish another time.

I know it's harsh, but it'd have to be Lachie. Pedo takes CHB and a forward line spot is freed up to alternate between Goldy and Hamish.

There is no point in bringing Hamish in to replace a defender as Hamish is not a defender.

Hansen is a better defender than Pederson. Period.

He has to replace a forward. Pederson or Edwards are the only candidates.

It's only "experimenting" if you don't already know what you have.

If the coach doesn't know what he has after 2 seasons, then I doubt he ever will.

Wouldn't be suprised to see Basti miss this week. Landed awkwardly on his leg and looked to have pinched something in his knee. You could play Hamish in ruck and Goldy as CHF without missing a beat I reckon. Cruise as the sub and sub H out at around half way through the third quarter.

Petrie will play his 200th in the first week of finals if we make it. Just quietly.

Pedersen was causing all sorts of headaches on the weekend and he's a very awkward match-up as he's tall and has a bit of toe as well.

I agree though, Hansen should be the one to fall out of the 22 on merit but due to team balance he should probably stay in. Therefore, don't bring H in.

St Kilda already has big, slow bodies like Kosi, McEvoy, Reiwoldt (v2011) and Polo. We don't need to try and match them.

My only reasoning behind bringing in Hamish is that he provides us with something in the air.

Pederson relies on getting in to space and getting his man in to a one out contest, and I just can't see him getting the room to do that in the StKilda back line.

IMO, he will be ineffective against StKilda. I hope i'm wrong, but that's how I see it.

Hamish offers us something where StKilda can't flood, at 10 feet in the air. He also creates match up headaches and would make McEvoy more accountable in defence.

On merit alone, there is no way I could replace Pedo. This is about tactics.

If it comes down to a choice between Hansen & Pedo, form would say that Pedo stays in the team. If they drop him & keep Hansen, it's a vote for potential over performance.

Going back to our last game against the Saints, Ben McEvoy played a major role in our loss.

He pushed back hard in front of Petrie, and took a number of telling marks.

Bringing HMac in will mean he is more accountable. and provided petrie and HMac dont get in each others way, and we dont just 'bomb it long in hope', i think the saints will struggle against the Twin Tower approach.

But once again, who do you drop? tough times ahead for the selection panel.

1) Neither Pederson or Hansen will make a lick of difference if Reiwoldt get's lace out delivery.

2) Hansen is easily the better of the two at negating a 50/50 aerial duel or getting hand in to spoil a mark. Easily.

agreed on 1).

not convinced on 2). Wasn't it the last Saints game where Pedo got switched onto Hansen's man and did a better job? Maybe that had to do with the Saints being less focussed on scoring, but maybe it had a bit to do with Pedo applying himself to the job.

StKilda completely shut up shop at half time and Hansen went forward to do what Pederson couldn't. Take marks and kick goals.

Hansen: 14 disposals, 5 marks, 1 goal
Pederson: 9 disposals, 2 marks, 1 goal

IF H comes in, who goes out?

Soooo many articles on H over the last couple of days. Here are the latest:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...election-dilemma/story-e6frf9jf-1226121594037

So, if for some reason the selection committee does decide to bring H in for the Saints match, then who goes out?

For mine, all our talls are performing well (Petrie,Peds,Goldie) or playing their intended role (Hansons down back).

I just don't see a good team fit unless Goldie is the one omitted.

whaddaya think?

There's already a thread on this.
