Re: 1. Jay Neagle

he has to be match fit. that means he needs to be able to play 4 quarters of footy. at the moment he is running out of gas by half time

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

Seems wasted at vfl level, keep him in the seniors at least till lucas is back... 1- contested positions today, and could have had 4 goals... He is the kinda of player our forward line needs.. eradicate.. unpredictable.. but more then capable.

Very impressed with his game today, and i could not beleive how strong and how well he usded his body, very impressed :)

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

i thought he was great tonight, hopefully he'll remain in the team for the rest of the year and continue to get fitter and fitter, and better and better.

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

Happy with his performance, 10 contested possesions out of 11 overall is a pretty amazing stat, but also begs the question why couldn't he shake his man.

Also how do you pronounce his name? i have always thought it was Neegle but the commentators always say Naigle

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

My opinion of his has changed after seeing today's game...

I now think he will make it, whereas before I wasnt too sure...
Likewise. He seems to play quite poor in the VFL, but when given the opportunities in the seniors he actually plays quite well. Looked pretty unfit out there I thought so he'll only get even better once he increases his fitness levels a bit.

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

Natural footballer. Just knows what to do in a contest.

An idea I had while watching him was to use him as a player who comes off the back of the square during the centre clearances.

  • We already have a FF so we wouldn't lose any of our structure.
  • His strong body and knowledge of how to use it would be useful in the contests

  • It would provide match-up problems for the opposition as few defenders would be able to follow him in.

Just an idea really.

Very happy to see him play well. I was starting to have doubts about our future spine and his place in it when I watched him at Bendigo last week but I am back to being confident.

Gumbleton, Daniher, Neagle. Looks like we have our future forward stocks covered.

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

Didn't do a heap but what he did was very impressive and I also noticed a number of times he chased hard which probably flies in the face of a few people saying he is lazy. I think he was the best thing to come out of yesterdays game.

People havn't said he's lazy. People have said he's not fully fit.

And he's not.

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

Neagle's performance just shows what a difference it makes playing around players with some class.

Lloyd would struggle to get a goal playing for Bendigo at the moment.

He kicked 5 straight yesterday from crap delivery into the forward line. Give the man a break what else do you want him to do. If Lloyd had a Hawthorn or Geelong midfield how would he look then? Think about it and take it easy on him, he tries his guts out.

You misunderstood his point.

Have a read again, you will see what he means.

Re: 1. Jay Neagle

What a talent...

Great hands, solid kick, terrific reader of the play, big body and moves well over the ground.

I'm just as excited about the development of Jay as I am about Gumby.
