I got no problem with him staying. We're last on the ladder, we're not competing for the flag.

I really believe the more we create a good culture of player welfare the better the team will perform overall and the more attractive we will be to free agents.
Pretty much saved me posting the same. Not like we ware contending.

Who gives a flying F’k if Ben10 doesn’t play a game or two, the bloke is a dead set legend and as you and others have said we aren’t contending and to just pound more punishment onto Ben for no need is futile.
Get the bloke rested up, heck if it was me I would be getting anyone in that needed surgery now (not saying Ben does) get all the boys fresh for next year rather than dragging any niggles to the end of the season.
All the media Flogs potting Ben can go F off.

Don't think anyone except rookie listed players get match payments these days.
Oh really? TBH I've never thought about until just now. For some reason just thought it was a thing and what can make salary caps tricky to manage.

Look at me and my old man 90's thinking!

Actually it turns out I am wrong. Match payments are in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

We won’t see Cunnerzzz again this year I don’t rekon. He and Jed were tipped off the Lockdown would run longer then 5 days via AFL/North, surprise surprise. They saw the writing on the wall the club would go into some sort of interstate bubble. If we had of been away for just the one game, confidently, no reason he wouldn’t have played and been away from family for 3/4 days, that won’t be the case and we will be on the road for a while I think

At the end of the day who cares, once again get the bloke and the Jedi cherry ripe for next season rather than some shitty dead rubbers and let’s all get “Horny” about the future… 👍👍👍 1626563025450.png

Yep, it's kinda like Rodman on The Last Dance. :) Cunners needs his family time and space so he can do his thing on the field when it matters most.

I remember seeing a photoshop of Ben Cunnington as the Hulk some years ago - I think on this forum - but I've since lost it. Does anyone have it? I thought it was awesome.

So in hindsight, is there a reason he couldn't have flown up on the Saturday, played with the boys and then flown back Sunday evening with the team?
We would have had to pay a fine for not having him in the emergencies, but besides that, any COVID related reason he couldn't have played?

Not really more the fact that he didn’t want to leave his pregnant wife alone in lockdown with their 2 children for 4-5 days. Which potentially could have extended if the afl asked us to stay up there and imo they should have

Don’t know if FIFO would have been an option allowed

Because he didn't have the value of hindsight to make his decision.

Yeah I get that. But once it was known on Saturday that the team wouldn't be staying up and would be flying back on Sunday, he may have changed his decision.

Well we went up on a chartered flight to begin with. Doubt we would be sending him on a public flight.

Are you going to admit now that you just make shit up as fact?

There may well be a reason, even though the rest of your argument dismisses the possibility.

Plus there was no point in sending him there Saturday once the team was picked and flew to Brisbane on Thursday.

how so?

Why would there have been no point? When the team was picked on Thursday it wasn't known that they would be flying back on Sunday. Once it was known that they wouldn't be staying for weeks on end (as was initially understood and was the reason Cunners decided to stay home), he could have flown up, played, flown back with the team yesterday.
Besides paying a fine for not being picked in the selected 26 inc emergencies, I'm not seeing an obvious reason why he couldn't have played.

Living up to your user name. I guess I got it wrong which I am very happy to be but the part where I typed “I don’t rekon” or “I think” infers it’s my opinion and not fact ya dunderhead

Your opinion was you don't reckon he'll play. 'Getting tipped off' was the adventure down the rabbit hole im referring to.
