My take is you have no idea what's going on in Bens 4 walls.
Agreed. And there’s also not many jobs in the world where you have a serious back injury and still put yourself into rigorous/dangerous work to try and help your employer have success. This ain’t a bloke that has ever “just phoned it in”. Deserves all the respect in the world.

Thinking about Cunners longevity as before this year I felt the end might come quickly. This was based on him missing a whole year with injury and the perception he might rather do other stuff.

But aside from his stellar form he also seems to be loving footy at the moment and as we surge up the ladder you would have to think that won’t change.

Josh Kennedy and Joel Selwood are both 3 years older than Cunners, have been battered just like him and are both averaging mid 20’s possessions and 5 clearances a game.

With Ben’s ability to go forward and hopefully a reduction in the weight he has to carry for the team, he could have another 4 or 5 seasons in him.

I think as long as he's enjoying it and he knows he adds to the team he'll keep playing.

Young excitement breeds excitement.

The kids coming through clearly love the bloke.

I have little doubt that he will go until he can't. How far away that is who knows.

Zero issues with periodically giving him breaks to prolong his career.

Don't think anyone except rookie listed players get match payments these days.
Tbh I can’t really figure it out. The CBA absolutely specifies that everyone gets match payments. But I’ve also seen people refer to contracts that do or don't include them. At a rounded-up rate of $5k/game (rookie list and 1st year draftees are a bit less), match payments take up about $2.5M of the $13.27M TPP, leaving a bit over $11M for base salaries. Match payments to rookie listed players are outside the cap however, which provides a bit of wiggle room.

So he's not playing for this week or the next 3 weeks?
Amarfio said on Thursday that the plan was to come back and play Carlton here next week. But (from other sources, not his interview) they’re prepared for the possibility it could be longer, depending what happens in the various states. So best case he misses just this week.
