I think that's the whole point though, at that price point the business was making money. Paying someone 3 times that (for less return from a ratings perspective) is how you destroy a business.

The thing I don't get with Hutchy is that he frequently extols the importance of premium products and premium experiences - that's why Ballpark Entertainment works (and why it will be salvageable). Yet the rest of Sports Entertainment Group's strategy has been to buy obscure or previously non-profitable assets. A leaner business would be much better than this weird, cut-price magnate schtick he's tried.

Did they clarify anywhere if Whately's salary includes calling a AFL games a weekend, Cricket and other on air roles?

I remember Kane Cornes saying filling in for Gerard was hard work. I think he covered him for a four week block. That's saying something given Kane's usual workload. He said he spent hours doing voice overs and commercial work after the show was done.

150k was probably the base contract. Most names in metro commercial radio have ratings bonuses tied into their deal.
