Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Andrew Welsh Jr?

Was hoping this wasn't a footy skills comparison thread. Wasted opportunitys but his presence all night was critical.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Andrew Welsh Jr?

Found the ball well, but his goal kicking and disposal efficiency let him down.
50% DE and 0 goals 5 behinds is terrible.
His endurance really helps him and if he can get the ball 20+ times a game it would be great. But for him to be damaging he needs to work on his kicking.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

the conversion was terrible, but if he gets the ball 20 times and generates half a dozen shots at goal in that role, i'll take it every week. will rip the arse out of sides this year when the goal-kicking is switched on.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Andrew Welsh Jr?

Yeah, had absolutely no confidence in his goal kicking.

He should honestly just play on in every situation, and we'd end up with more.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

Couple of shots from close to the boundary line, one from outside 50, a hurried snap, one hit the back of the post and missed by 3mm. If he was missing from 20m directly in front then fire away. Not even close to being in our worst players.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

yeah I thought he did pretty well except for his kicking. Definately knows how to find the ball and if he cant get it himself is great at making a contest and bringing the ball to ground. 1st game for the year is entitled to be a bit rusty - lets hope he kicks 5 straight against Port next week

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been more said about Crameri's last two weeks (even round one was just conversion away from being close to BOG).

Seriously, how good is this guy?

He would have to be in the top 3 most dangerous mid sized / 3rd tall / half forward types in the league.

He is a brilliant mark, excellent at applying pressure once the ball hits the ground and an endurance animal. If we can just correct that set shot routine he will be one of the most amazing mature aged recruits.

He probably plays a little more as a key forward than some of the others but I hope that he is ultimately combining at half forward with Ryder/Gumbleton/Hurley. He will go to another level when his opponent simply cannot go with him.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

Im shocked that he wasnt playing AFL footy earlier in his career.
He's never going to be a big name outside of Essendon, but he makes his contribution each week, works well with our existing forward line and must be a real headache for opposition coaches when it comes to match ups.

Gotta love him!

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

If he keeps kicking 2 to 3 goals a week he is going to become a household name sooner rather than later.

He is a ******* brute of a player and hard to miss.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

Absolutely smashed Bock, an All Australian defender, in the air and around the ground when they were playing on each other. Whenever the ball goes near him I'm confident that at the very least it'll be a neutral result and more likely an advantage for Essendon.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

Just a thought, wonder if he has spent much time in the midfield during his younger years?
He is obviously bloody strong so maybe he might be tried there, just to see what happens.

Played just about every position at some stage for Bendigo. Started on a wing when he was about 19, then the next couple of years he moved on ball, key fwd, half back. Probably one of the hardest players to match up on in the league now. Nice compliment for him to have Bock go to him over Hurley.

I think he was mostly playing midfield up until the end of 2010. Played there in our last game or two of the season when promoted.

It's the move to the forward line that really got him going. Too important to our forward line to be moved away for any length of time.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

Bruno summed it up well.

Think that Crameri's form in 2012 has been under-rated.

Very important to our structure with his range of skills - And he takes a good player every week.

Re: #12: Stewart Crameri - Terrible disposal against North

This guy has to be one of the more under rated players going around. His strength and ability to win contested footy is A grade. His one on one marking ability has improved to the point that he is a leader in this area.

This coupled with the fact that he's fast, covers the ground, has great foot skill and is good on the ground makes him a super player very hard to match up on.
