OK, I've removed about three pages of posts.

Please do not use this thread to speculate about Oliver's private life – medical or otherwise.

Regardless of the veracity of your rumour, or what you know/have heard, if it's not public knowledge, just don't post it.

I don't want to turn this place into Demonland, but if you can't see the potential harm that this sort of rumour-spreading can cause (regardless of your intentions), then perhaps it's best if you take a bit of a break.

Thanks.

The bloke blew a gasket because I dared suggest one of our players took recreational drugs.

:$
I called you a flog too but I put my hand up and flogged myself when it all came out.

You got verified itk status after that unlike old mate who just recycles twitter stories as fact

I'm sure the club put him on notice and had the captain move him into his house with his pregnant wife because there's nothing wrong. Just complete coincidence

Literally no one said there's nothing wrong.

You and old mate are the one's who keep pushing it next level though - apparently he's a hopeless drug addict now. Righto.

Probably could have gotten enough out of Adelaide to land the first pick. Ah well.
It’s quite possible Adelaide went cold not the other way around .

Clayton is completely off the rails. Whatever happened at the camp we don’t know, but there’s enough smoke around what he did when he came home/got booted from camp. He’s taking the urine .

Said it a while back but Clarry is up from my way here in the bush. It's been very well known that since his break up from his high school girlfriend that he's gone absolutely off the rails with recreational drug use and high level of gambling concerns.

He's got some absolute country knock about mates up here and so of course when they're together they're not sitting around having a cup of tea with some jam scones.

If the Lorne stuff is true then I'm not one bit surprised and can't see him playing much at all if any this year.

Oh well, should have traded him when we had the chance.

The chance in 2020 when apparently he was chatting to David Teague? Or last off season when no one would have touched him? I think we need to get over the should have traded him last off season stuff.

Were you sleeping under a rock?

Adelaide and Essendon have been the two clubs linked with Oliver, with the Crows thought to be the favourite if Melbourne and the three-time All-Australian decide to part ways with each other.

“The situation with other clubs is they’re waiting. The Adelaide Crows are very keen and they haven’t been told he’s officially off the market,” Morris said on SEN Breakfast earlier.

“Why the Crows are appealing is two-fold – Darren Burgess is the fitness boss there and has a very good relationship with Clayton Oliver, who I’d say has had a mixed relationship with the fitness people at Melbourne.

“The interest from other clubs has been growing rapidly because they felt there could be a chance he could be available.”

Morris noted he expected Oliver to remain a Demon, but emphasised that the disconnect between the two parties has been real.

“I’ve always said I still expect him to be at Melbourne in 2024, but it was pretty tenuous there for a while,” he added.

“You speak to people at Melbourne and around the situation, they understand this is delicate.”

Yeah mate I read all that at the time. I don’t doubt there was interest. Who wouldn’t won’t a player of his quality. They would have done five minutes of digging and said no thanks.

Well clearly they didn't say no... Adelaide were ready to pounce had the club decided it was best to trade him.

The connection was the Darren Burgess link obviously and he was all for bringing Oliver to the crows hence the interest.

You openly said there was no interest when I have clearly pointed out to you that there was in fact interest from both Essendon and Adelaide. Had we said that we were willing to trade then absolutely clubs would have jumped.

I never said there was no interest. I said no one would have touched him. Maybe I should have added after a little due diligence.
So tell me, what would we have got in a trade?

StKilda - Lovett
Richmond - Cousins
Brisbane - Fevola
Richmond - Yarran
Geelong - Clark
Collingwood - Beams

All the above had issues, clubs looked past it.

Happens all the time, Collingwood knew Beams had issues, Eddie with help from Sidebottom pushed it down the clubs throat and we got nothing from him in the end.

0 chance Crows take on that contract and offer anything worthwhile after a little digging.
The AFL is an idiot factory all the way down. They weren't fishing on him for no reason and the Crows are one the most spectacular moron/nepotism factories in the country.

Yeah I mean it’s been about 5 years since the last of those. Some big errors though no doubt clubs have learnt from. None of those guys on 7 by 7 million though.
I still very much doubt anyone gives us a first for Clarry last year.

Did any of these guys have a mil a year contract for 7 years that go along with the drugs/gambling/ADHD/Mental Health issues? From what I'm hearing, the mental health concerns are greater than any of the other issues. Massive concerns. No club is taking that risk with a 7 year contract on a Mil per season. Of course there was interest when it popped up,but it went away pretty quickly once things started to become public.

All those a disaster as well. Hogan a recent example of a player being taken on and turning things around a bit. Cousins probably the closest to what Oliver is going through. Was he a rookie contract at Tigers? Nowhere near the risk of 7 years, 7 mil
