Asked him pre-game vs * whether he'd play on next year and he said "whatever the club needs", just a snippet of the leadership and attitude he brings the club.

The longer he's around the club the more confident I'll be that we're firmly on the right track

one year too many imo now would have been fine to hang them up

His body starting to not hold up

Full time Recruiting job on hold for another year then
If he can perform as well as he did this year again in the next, it'll easily be worth it.

He might have only played 16 games, but he was one of our top 10 players in more than half of those.

We simply don't have enough picks to replace this many players this year.

Says so much about clarko that he has inspired this loyalty as well

Shiels shouldn't be getting the same amount of game time as he did this seasion if so, whats the point of drafting top end midfidlders for the last 4 years?
He can be plugged and played most spots on the ground a bloke his size can. Players get injured. Leads on and off the field. We already have 8+ list spots to fill. He's the only bloke at the club older than 14.

There's a handful of reasons to hold onto him.

Is a great asset to the club but would hope we have enough talent now that he's spending most of the time in the VFL and on developing the kids.

If we had balls he'd have been made Captain, said that when we got him, nothing has changed.
Absolute heart & soul player.

Has won more flags than some players have won games at our club. I get in trouble for picking on players, can't recall me having any issues with this champ of the game .

Just sayin.
