I added a “like” because this post is trending at “GR at his best” levels. I’m nothing if not a bandwagon jumper. It should be noted that all the posts that are knocking Gav Junior are generating zero likes. The rest of us have a tendency to jump at shadows, methinks. 🤣
Surely no one posts on here just looking for likes. And if that is the case there are a few on here that would be in the negative collum.

So? Sheezel and Kerch are the only two with the level of skills necessary. Powell has not been up to scratch to be honest, he has a long way to go and who knows if Duursma makes it. Time will tell, ive had enough of winning the ball only to turn it over. You must think thats the right approach. It aint.

Biggest flaws in our game.
  • Defensive pressure in our FWD line to Mid Field. Ball transitions from our FWD line far too easily which segway into the second biggest flaws.
  • poor skills by foot and hands entering 50 and general play. (Daniel addresses this somewhat)
  • young bodies being bullied in the midfield (they have attempted to address that and I think Parker addresses this somewhat)
Agreed with this but would also add midfield setups. We're not getting as much out of the individual talent there as we should. Parker again helps.

Mids by age this year:

Older group - Luke Parker (107), Jy (26/27), LDU (25/26).
,
Younger group - Tommy Torps (22/23), WAP (22/23), Warlord (20/21), Sheeze (20), Kerch (19/20), FOS (18/19), LUQ (18/19).

That age is how old they'll be at the start of the year and after the GF. With the possible exception of Bull and Tucker (& low probability either have many CBAs imo) anyone else who might rotate thru the middle at CBs is younger than Tommy Powell.

Personally I think Warlord will play as much senior midfield time as he can based on the relative age and ability of our players. None of the younger group are stronger and only Sheeze is (possibly) better on the inside. (That may change with another year of growth/development for Torps and WAP but as of now I reckon its spot on.)

Luke Parker is 107 years old????

Really makes me question why we traded for him now.

Nah don't worry he's an absolute jet!

Did you lot watch the vid floating around NMFC media of this kid? Holy shit. If he can run he has player written all over him, has the build of a bloke with 4 pre seasons already, talks like he's been playing senior footy for years. Just very mature, if his athletic stuff is as reported he could be a real weapon making space and driving that accountability around the middle for years.

Club couldn’t be more impressed with Luke. Already turning heads with his willingness to learn, his leadership and training standards.

Some kids take a while to step up and understand roles/structures/positioning/cues around stoppages but Urqs is such a natural in those positions.

Already matching the likes of Powell/Phillips in and around the stoppages at training when it comes to strength too.

Danger, Will Robinson. Danger.

Especially for Phillips.

Have heard the same. The squeeze is well and truly on. And that's a good thing.

Not only from the strength front, but he already has a really well developed tank too. Very very well rounded for a kid his age. Balance between defensive/offensive application, inside/outside work and the associated positioning.

I probably overlooked just how good his champs were considering he and Bo Allan done so much heavy lifting for the WA midfield.

The effort you pit in, is the effort you get out

That's very exciting. Honestly he just looks like a ready to go mature player, the fact that he has heaps of time and learning to do is amazing.

Yep looking like another draft Brady and company have nailed. Well done guys.

Hard to see him breaking into the side in '25, but I really like the pick overall. If nothing else, seems to fit the culture of the club to a tee.
I wouldn't be surprised if he played next year. He looked good on the track yesterday, not out of place at all.

A bit to go but if in 1-2 years he's the bloke in Tucker's role for example I can see that going absolutely fine.
