That's a sensational looking side!

I think it could beat any team in the comp on its day. Still needs a couple more of the younger guys to be playing to their best capacity consistently to be the team that could beat any team on any day, on any pitch.

Would Ziebell make a better HF than Patch?

And if so does that leave a spot open for Greenhead when Swallow returns?

Patch has looked good the last couple of games, and he had a big impact as the sub against Essendon. I wouldn't be too keen on dropping him if he keeps up this form.

Having said that, I think Greenwood is better at stoppages than JZ, & JZ could be a very good forward. It's nice to have options.

So Swallow returns and it could look a bit like this

B: Mullett Thompson Hansen
HB: Atley Grima Dal Santo
C: Bastinac Ziebell McKenzie
HF: Wells Petrie Harvey
F: Black Daw/Tarrant Thomas

R: Goldstein Swallow Cunnington

Int: Greenwood, Adams, McDonald
Sub: Gibson

Really sucks that my instinctive reaction was that Petrie was the weak link based on season output to date. :(

Yeah it was really just an idea I thought I would throw out there. Like many here I love what Patch is doing right now.

But in the end it's about what makes the team better overall.

Ziebell is a stronger mark, and a better set shot on goal than Patch. He can also work up the ground around the stoppages and be the extra mid, he is a good user when he can get it on the outside as well.

NDS makes time stand still. Especially when you're at the game watching it in person, you realise just how cool and composed he is.

It really is a joy to watch and exactly what we needed.
Basti has this ability to a lesser degree than NDS, unfortunately it's deserted him this season, I hope he gets it back ASAP!

The sooner he finds touch with him crumbing skills again the better too. Was very sharp last year, an understated part of his game.
We all know Basti has class and it's really frustrating to see him so out of touch, hopefully he'll find it this weekend and build on it. If he continues as he is I think a week or two in the magoos would do him the world of good to get some touch and confidence back.

I was thinking he might need some VFL time after the Bulldogs game and even in the first half of the Port game but he's doing all the hard stuff right at this point; running, tackling, good clearance work. We persist with him in 1's he'll regain touch again soon enough.

I have thought that about NDS as well as Cunnington and Wells at stoppages. That is why playing these three predominantly in the guts is so crucial. It also happens that these three are probably the most natural footballers (excluding boomer) that can play a multitude of roles in the side.

I think NDS is getting a touch overrated in his games thus far <ducks>.
Have to disagree as well, against * the whole team from chimpana to chimpanzee was terrible. Against the dogs he accumulated a fair bit of ball, thought he was in our best 3. Likewise against the power but his output was greater again, slotted in a clutch goal. So far so good IMO, his leadership and composure is worth it's weight in gold

Gibson, McKenzie, McDonald or Greenwood making way for Macmillan when fit.
Good team, only player I don't rate in that 22 is Gibson and he only just snuck in which is a good sign

Expect Garner to be in the mix when he is fit also
