And I got sneered at by fellow North so-called supporters for starting a thread on the MB talking him up.

Very similar to Sidebottom in the sense that they make up for a lack of pace with great skills on the left.

Next step is to build a massive tank (like Sidebottom). He won't win the footy with speed or strength, he'll need smarts and fitness.

Not a bad Murray Bushrangers side in 2008 with Sammy, Jack Ziebell, Steele Sidebottom & Tom Rockliff to name a few. No wonder they won the TAC cup

Picked up this weeks edition of Inside Football as Drew was on the cover and there was a fair whack of North for obvious reasons.

In the section titld "Things I learnt this week" (or something to that effect), one of the writers made the comment that Sam could well be the most sillfull dual sided player in the game.

Thoughts

By foot, he is up there. I recall the footage of him from his U/18 days in which he was running off half back and hit a bloke 50 meters away on the tit lace out on the lead with his left peg. T'was a beauty.

By hand, Cunnington is king.

Thats a huge call if you we are talking the league here. Or do you mean just compared to Wright?

As for Wright, he is excellent both sides. Mitchell probably best in league for kicking both sides, Lenny Hayes for handballing.

His kick across his body on the left to Anthony on the forward flank in the second was magnificent. Got Collingwood defenders running the wrong way.

I reckon Cunners has the ability to be in the top few league wide in ball use by hand, on both sides.

I agree. You did mention the word "king" which is a bit different, but regardless he is excellent by hand.
I'll be honest, from a few instances already he has shown elite traits, specifically with his opposite hand, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was already up there league wide with his skillz. He hasn't really had too much opportunity to date to show that creative distribution but I firmly believe it is there and will come to the fore soon enough.

Steele Sidebottom and Sam Mitchell come to mind.

Wright needs to build a massive tank just like Steele has. With a lack of pace, a massive engine is required.

On a totally unrelated topic, how good is his swagger and 'come at me' demeanour been this year?

Something we've really missed for god knows how long.
