Yeah I didn't really rate Sammy and would often think he wasn't good enough , he certainly proved me wrong.

I think the real turning point was the elimination final last year against *, hasn't played a bad game since. Good on you Sammy on a good year and a new contract, well deserved.

Is ir just me or do you think there is something a bit fishy about this whole 'bonus year' on his contract thing... I am a bit skeptical

So the club announces he's triggered a clause in his original one year (14-15) contract which extends it to a two year contract (14-16) and Wright's manager has flatly denied it?

North Melbourne defender Sam Wright is pushing for a long-term contract extension after reaching a games trigger to keep him at the club in 2016, with his manager taking to Twitter to refute the fact that he had re-signed.

Wright has played every game this season, and is believed to feel his strong form as a rebounding and lockdown defender should be rewarded beyond a one-year deal.

While he is contractually obliged to be at the club in 2016, he would become an unrestricted free agent should he not re-commit beyond that point.

The Roos say they are comfortable with where discussions are situated in relation to a further extension, with a club spokesman saying that talks were ongoing.

Wright's South Australian manager, Greg Size of Deliver Sports Management refuted a club tweet suggesting that Wright had re-signed already, saying that further contract talks had been put off until the season is completed. "A bit cheeky guys, he hasn't signed anything yet," Size tweeted.

So old mate is saying that because Wright signed a contract in '14 for one year with a trigger, he didn't have to sign to be a contracted player for '16.

He must be talking about an extension.
