I’m just watching these Sri Lankans - and really as much as india is the home of spin bowling, since Murali debuted Sri Lanka really has been the ultimate test as far as pitch conditions go of playing spin - none of them seem to have a method that goes beyond either a) use your feet or b) sweep. As I said it CAN work but where have the likes of a Mahela gone who could play 4-5 different shots both attack and defence to a given delivery

True, the more traditional player of spin is getting rarer, and T20s have played a big part in that, I think. I don't think that it's disappearing completely, there's just a method that can work that's easier to learn now. If it works, it works, I guess. I do hope that as the way the game is played progresses, bowlers force that kind of player to make a return to the forefront, and I think that will eventually happen as the modern technique is countered more effectively.
