You could make the same argument for Konstas, McSweeney.

I’d be saying the same thing too- either play them or let them come back and play Shield

Cummins has saved many tests for us over the last few years, kuhneman injured opened up Connolly having that chance.

Really hope they haven't changed their mind on this but I get if they have.

Kuhermann should be playing near our best type of spinner in these conditions. I wouldn’t play Murphy personally how many offies do we need? There’s Lyon, there’s Head, Webster bowls them too.

I like the idea of Connolly at 7/8 then Starc 9, and then the two spinners

Connolly hasn’t been with a test squad before, so a bit of experience isn’t the worst thing. McSweeney, who appears not to be getting a look in is bizarre, and if they drop Konstas that will be equally as daft.

Except, in Asian conditions (well, actually in any conditions) Murphy is better against right and left handers.

Now I’d play them both, but let’s give Murphy his due.

If Konstas is being dropped because of doubts against spin then he is not up to Test cricket.

I would like to see him play and let him have a go at it. I reckon he would do OK.

Murphy ahead of Kuhnemann

Honestly should have left Khawaja out once we made the WTC. That should have been the decision.

I’d play Connolly actually

I would not play all 3, that’s too long a tail. I’d actually play Abbott OR Connolly lean towards CC as he can genuinely bat. Personally we have enough off spinners in our lineup. Now ideally we should have picked Tanveer Sangha as a leggie variety but NSW in their dumb wisdom wanted to waste Shoeld games on Zampa’s rubbish

I’d play both Murphy and Kuhnemann, not Connolly’s or Abbott

These are the sorts of series they can learn how to play spin. Instead of jumping into a series in India in 5 years time and not knowing what to do
I'm not saying he shouldn't play I'm reading as they think Trav has more chance of pulling it off in those conditions.
There's a playing it safe element in the selection although I also think it's dodgy to stuff around with Trav in the order.

Quiz question, in the recent series in SL that NZ played, in the second test, what did NZ’s 3 SLA bowlers combine for?

Barely watched that series probably watched half a day at the most.

We have Lyon. Head is easily as good as Murphy would be. In fact he’s horribly underbowled in these conditions maybe Smith will help there. I just don’t see why we need another one on top of that.

Now ideally we’d have picked Sangha on this tour but whatever there.

I’d play Connolly and then two of the 3 spinners, oersonalk

Welcome to 7 out all out then. It’s a massive tail none of the 3 are lasting long. Least with Connolly/Starc we bat one further down

There's hyperbole and then there's whatever this is.

Come on Luke, at least pretend you have a clue.

Head is not as good as Murphy at bowling.

NZs SLA options (3 of them) took 0-330.

He’s a smart spinner, at times looked our best spinner this summer anyway. He should be bowling a LOT over there. Don’t see the point picking more off spinners than we need. We should have picked a leggie

Rather have the extra batting AR over there. You just need to be accurate and the pitch does the work. I’d be picking Connolly.
