The lead over 500 now, surely that's enough, a declaration can't be too far away.

Time isn’t an issue but yeah can’t really see any reason to bat on.

BUT.

There will come a point at some stage where a team chases down 500 soon-ish. As much as sides are struggling with the bat in recent times, games have more time (weather permitting) than ever before so we are getting to these scenarios more and more often where teams have these colossal deficits but actually have more than reasonable time to get them, and virtually every side has a player or more that can rattle off 100+ in 3 hours. Once you get into that territory and can, with one big partnership, halve a target, sides can start to tactically work around running down a huge chase.

Not saying it’s going to happen in the next 6 months or anything but the time is approaching when it will

There is rain forecast in Durban for Day 5 so South Africa may only have another 4 sessions left to bowl Sri Lanka out.

They only needed one session to bowl them out in the first innings but they can't rely on them batting that badly again.

Chandimal and de Silva batting, how long can they last, if they bat all day SL might get a draw with rain forecast for Day 5.

Not much of a crowd there so it seems like no one has much faith in SL lasting that long today apart from diehard SL fans.

2nd test about to start soon:

Sri Lanka
(Playing XI): Dimuth Karunaratne, Pathum Nissanka, Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews, Kamindu Mendis, Dhananjaya de Silva(c), Kusal Mendis(w), Prabath Jayasuriya, Vishwa Fernando, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara

South Africa have won the toss and have opted to bat

De Zorzi goes for a golden globe.

He looks like a guy who used to bat right handed then decided to switch to left.

He was a bit stiff with that lbw call just clipping leg stump but he probably wouldn't have lasted long anyway with his technique.

What has happened to Keegan Petersen, looked a good find a couple of years ago and now cannot get a game

Assuming Nortje is returning from injury seeing as he's been picked in the T20s

Was likewise wondering about Petersen, but Nortje has been injured and seems to be on his own schedule so you wonder him not taking up a contract is to do with him considering his future in T20.
