looks to have a big frame, i hope he can develop into a UNIT down back, a la arch, put a little fear into a few wimpy size forwards...:):D:footy:

Interesting that he was at Marryatville, a public school with a big tennis program, and not one of the bigger private schools over here who seem to snap up any young kid with talent for their specialised footy programs.

MHS didn't make him play footy for them whereas those private schools would have.

Perfect pick for what we need. Looks like a really great kick and I'd say he will slot straight in for round 1 with our backline the way it is.

I love seeing the new blokes come into the side and I'm sure he will become a favourite of the supporters.

Has it's positives and negatives. Good players like McKenzie would be nurtured through a specialised footy program had he gone to Rostrevor, Prince Alfred, or St Peters. Would have played under specialised coaches regularly and been brought up in a footy environment.

But at MHS instead of being held in school footy he would have been able to play more at Sturt and focus completely on that. And because Sturt were so bad this year he was able to get a run in the seniors. Marryatville is also a fairly intelligent and cultured school so you know he'll be a well-versed young man. Not the snobby and arrogant private school type you sometimes get (although MHS has been referred to as "the public school that thinks it's a private school).

Haha yep, and I can assure you that Brad is a kid of exceptional character. Not necessarily a born leader, but genuinely humble and a very hard worker.

Quality player is McKenzie, lovely kick on him, doesn't spear it but always pinpoints targets with accurate passes over long distances. Not quick but gets around the ground in a very similar style to Lenny Hayes, but with a better kick. Doesn not posses the inside game that Hayes does but is better on the outside.

Great get ! im calling him Breaker .... got all the letters from his name and he should be a devastating line Breaker ..... Welcome Brad !!

Interesting comments from Lewis - not sure I understand the logic in asking the question why do you think we're here again.

Lewis says: "We went to his home earlier in the year, we interviewed him at the Draft Combine, and then we went back to his house and interviewed him again. It was maybe a bit of overkill from us. We asked Brad the question, 'Why do you think we're here again? And were angling for a certain answer. And he said, 'Because you want to pick me.' We thought that was a good response."

Loving this pick.

Speed is over rated now days, you need to be able to win your own ball in congestion and use it under pressure, and this kid seems to have that. Strong overhead and a good size as well.

Reminds me of Enright a little from the clips, but with a deadlier kick.

Should be some fierce competition at HB over the next couple of years with Sierakowski added as well in the off season.

That is exactly what I was thinking when I looked at the video.

Not sure on his pace? Looks like a great pick up though with his foot skills.

he got 3:08 in the 20m sprints at Draft Combine.

some of his other results:

Agility - 8.12 (ranked 7th)
Beep Test - 13.4
3km time trial - 11.05

here's a few articles on him in the Adelaide Now

Brad's dream is on his boot:

Mckenzie joins Kangas: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/mckenzie-joins-kangas/story-fn525un5-1226205465050

he says he models his game on Dyson Heppell.

"Hopefully we can play finals (next) year and I can learn off some of the other guys through the midfield," he says.

Hmm interesting, I wonder if he's been told he's going to be a midfielder, I hope that he's going to be a permanent half back flank (Enright style)
