I’ve never targeted him, and I’m not holding him totally accountable, but I’d like to hear what Rawlings has to say about the lack of desire on Jaidyns front and its allignments with North’s standards.

Because we’re looking at some high currency list management names and drafts picks that’s have gone south whilst he has been around.

CCJ and Sleevo, Rawlings.

JHF, TT, not on Rawlings but he was around.

Seems like we’ve got some stark issues with picking guys on either skill or picking up on work ethic and standards. Albeit if they’re not a top 3 pick.

It's a balancing act, but clubs will always take risks in relation to exceptional talent. Just like they take risks on low talent players with exceptional work ethics.

It's why other clubs are still sniffing around TT. And it's also why Kayne Turner stayed on a list for 10 years.

I get the feeling he was pushed. Coaches must have given him a rocket and targets to meet in order to get a game and he decided it was all too hard. He might have been offered a settlement as part of that push

And so he should've been, we're no longer here to **** spiders.

At his best he was exciting to watch, so it's sad to hear such a talented player has called it quits at only 25.

Thank you for your service to the club, and all the best for the future Sleevo.

Wouldn't any post recruitment attitude problems rest with coaches and match preparation staff?

He has a contract you gronk.

Why? He shouldn't be paid out because he didn't play to your excessive levels of expectation and demand?
No he wants to quit and retire, he shouldn’t be paid to do nothing. What sort of shit****ery is it when someone get paid out for nothing? If they were sacked then should be paid. The weak little ****er quit.. no pay out.

He should have been offered a settlement? Like ****!
Ok then he stays on the list being miserable, we have one less senior list spot, and we get to pay him the full contracted amount rather than a reduced one.

Do you prefer that outcome?

Yeh, he can. He can front up to training every session, he can run around in the scoobs, he can be dropped from the scoobs, he can shape up or quit. Thats it. And if he fails to hold up his end of his agreement, we can terminate his contract and not pay him. You realise we are broke?

Ok, then enjoy having him undermine our entire culture and having constant news coverage about the saga for the entire year... While still getting paid the full amount and occupying that list spot.

Seems like a decent person.

In 2023 Stephenson won the Peter Scanlon Community Award at the Syd Barker Medal for his work with national not-for-profit organisation, HeartKids.

Diagnosed with a genetic heart condition on the eve of being drafted, Stephenson became a HeartKids ambassador in 2017.

Stephenson told the club of his decision to step away from the game this week, saying he no longer had the hunger to devote himself fully.

Sorry mate but this is a poor take.

In my business, I have paid employees to leave in the past.
Having some miserable sack of sh!t around in one of my teams destroys culture.

The question isn't can we afford to pay him out, it is can we afford not to. As there are things more important than money, when it comes to the bigger picture.
With my business, I have one simple rule.
"Skills can be taught, attitude is infectious".

In football circles, if a player's heart isn't in it, cut him loose, for the betterment of the team.

He never developed his body, strength, idk whether he really improved other indicators either. He obviously wasn't the best trainer, I never saw him actually want or take the next step, but i am on an outside viewer.

Next time we recruit anyone we need to make sure they dont have this attitude. Similar to Chad Wingard. He admitted he never really cared about footy.

Who cares if we pay him out, its our fault for giving him a big contract (knowing the above) and in 2025 and going forward, we don't want players like that at our club anymore.

I'm sure I read / heard somewhere that this years exit meetings were a lot more forthright than previous years.

Players were left in no uncertain terms where they stand and what was expected of them over the off season.

I say about time!
