2 of your most hated teams

I like to watch football and don't understand hating any of the teams. Feels very contrived.

I shouldn’t have this enmity for Richmond, but I do. The great Maurice Rioli won a norm Smith there, they’re the same colours as my Wesley Curtin playing days and I love going out in the suburb when in Melb. But jeez they get under the skin. And of course WC.

I've always hated Geelong and Essendon (I have started to feel a bit sorry for Essendon though), my hatred for Geelong has grown further because of their role in introducing nefarious characters into the AFL, and getting the AFL by Shocking to appease their special needs.

Who are these "nefarious characters" that have been "introduced into the AFL"? It sounds like quite a conspiracy.

p.s. It's good to see you back.

I don't hate any team, but I do love Geelong the most

I love them the most because they have brought me so much joy over our premiership run.

We could not have won any of our flags in 17, 19 and 20 without Geelong, and Dusty would never have achieved GOAT status either without Geelong

Geelong - mainly because of annoying bandwagoner family member who has never been a club member and goes missing when the Cats are down. Plus we have a poor record against them 😉.

Melbourne - I was prepared to accept the 2021 result until I saw what ungracious winners they were, along with their fans, including two friends, one of whose gloating (after I had offered congratulations) caused me to block their phone.

Used to be GWS but most of the punchable heads have gone, except TG (and Lobb who has finally come into the light). Still glad we stymied their certain flag.

St Kilda - they beat us whenever we can least afford a loss 🤨.

Up until this year, i hadn't given Port Adelaide even a second of thought as a club, or as an overarching entity.

The carry on and smugness from a club that provide zero value to the AFL as a whole, is quite entertaining to see, as well as the inevitable fact that they are simply not any good, has catapulted them to the number one position in my mind.

Also, Essendon.
Yeah I actually used to kind of respect them before this off-season but their fan base’s behaviour on here has catapulted them to #1. The fact that they are mentally broken gives me great joy - I often rewatch the first quarter of the 2021 prelim as it’s the most astounding display of softness and mental fragility I’ve ever witnessed in this sport. Despite all their minor league history and never tear us apart and prison bars blah blah blah that is who they truly are now. And they know it. And they hate it so much. And I love it.Koch and Hinkley just lol.

If you don’t hate most other teams you’re following footy wrong imo. But maybe when you’ve won 9.5 games in 3 years hate is all you have to hold on to 🤔

I'm over it.

Not so much the Dogs fault.
More the commentary during a Dog's game.
Channel 7 Jesus Christ.
It's ridiculous.
Every single Dog is a "superstar".
Fair enough. Sometimes it is hard to separate the actual team from all the external hype, even if it isn't the club's doing. I remember when the Swans won the 2005 premiership after so long, all the hype. I was so happy for the Swans, as my Mum and grandmother were devoted Swans supporters.

There is no reason to hate opposition teams. It's childish and unnecessary. I used to partake in this group hysteria, but I've let it all go and I feel better for it.

You can enjoy footy just as much without hating opposition teams. Some people convince themselves that it is a necessary part of being mad, passionate fan... But I think it just makes the game shitter to get caught up in petty jealousies and hatred of opponents.

There's opposition players I greatly admire. There's opposition champions I'm less enthused about (for various reasons). Hate is too strong a word.

There's the bitter club rivalries: e.g. Hawks vs Essendon & Hawks v Geelong... Also Hawks v Sydney (2010's), Carlton (80's) and North (70's)
But I enjoy these rivalries as a positive thing. I don't feel the need to lose my mind over it and demean the opposition.

There's always a degree of jealousy and tall poppy syndrome towards any club who enjoying a successful dynasty and playing with arrogance and self belief. But it's still no reason to hate. Just see it for what it is: they're too bloody good and their fans are enjoying themselves. I wish it was us...

There's always a degree of animosity towards big clubs with feral fans: Collingwood, Richmond, Essendon, Carlton... Some irritation at the media bias towards them. But that isn't their fault. That's just the media business... These "big 4" clubs have bigger fanbases, so of course they're going to have greater numbers of annoying loudmouth flogs who jump on the bandwagon. Every club has their fair share of toolbag fans.

Really, we're all the same. We might wear different colours, but we all share the same idiotic, irrational, unhealthy obsession.

I mainly like to follow my team: cheer them on through thick and thin, curse the umpires and grimace at my team's skill errors and sloppy defence.

But I also like to watch opposition teams play each other because I love the game.
The most eloquent tribute to the life of a fan since “Well you work to earn a living….”

The team I hate the most is University. Never faced them in a final and will never get the chance.

For me it's essendon and the bombers.

Completely sanctimonious about any other team should they be seen to make any mistakes.

Completely delusional about their own team when they make monumental mistakes.

My personal thoughts about the drug saga was that the penalty should have been stronger. They should not have been able to receive any premiership points until every person involved had been dead for at least 20 years.

😔

I used to loath Hawthorn.

But now I can’t do anything but admire them. In fact kinda like them now.

I guess the only team I hate seeing is Gold Coast. But it’s only because of their dreadful jumper.

For Buddhasake change the yellow to a metallic gold and make it the main colour. Then darken the red just a tad.

I don't hate them per say but Carlton/Collingwood/Essendon. Beating them always feels good.

This isn't a hate the club thing but I really wish that the dogs would go back to being the Footscray Bulldogs though. I hate the Western moniker.
