AGE RELATED:-

B+ Parfitt-NO
B Miers-NO
A+ Cameron-not yet
B Simpson-NO
A+ Stewart-NO
A Duncan-NO
A Guthrie-NO

B+ Tuohy-YES
A+ Danger- N/A

B Hendo-YES
B Higgins-YES

Let's rethink that age-related concept
Really, only Tuohy qualifies as a true age related injury
Higgins and Hendo are certainly senior, but their issues were not necessarily injuries
Danger- not an age-related injury

Why is Dangerfield not age-related? He's 31 and will be 32 in April. Hate to break it to people, but he is like other players. Once you get over 30, you are more susceptible to injury. Just the way things are.

That's what I thought when he said it. To think CS approaches SH with trepidation....

Scotty is a very intelligent man (even if a few of us think he has his blind spots) my guess is that anyone who has to do that much media will inevitably have a laugh and tell an inside joke or say something that only those at the club will understand.

So in this instance maybe he was doing the obvious and true “Geelong are privileged to have SH back blah blah” and given reports of him coming in and shaking things up maybe CS was teasing him for that and those he has made uncomfortable allready / so that line was only meant to be understood by the inside as an attempt at humour

Just a guess

His injury has ZILCH to do with age.

I noticed that we were after Ash Hansen as Senior Assistant but he rejected our pitch apparently and was appointed Senior Assistant at the Dogs recently to replace Steven King. But now a few weeks later he takes the same role at Carlton. Wonder if this outcome is his assessment of the list/ state of the clubs footy dept etc. in which case he rated us stone last.

That's possible.

It's also possible he was excited by being part of a new coaching set-up and the challenge of trying to make Carlton successful again.

And maybe he didn't want to live in Geelong and didn't fancy the drive down the highway every day.

This surely means Grigg is moving up? Or have I got Griggs current title wrong? Genuine question- I am a fan of this move though!

Two year extension imminent. Get the popcorn ready.

Geelong is backing in coach Chris Scott with a two-year contract extension which will see him remain at Kardinia Park through to the end of 2024.

The new deal, which is likely to be signed off over the next week, will take Scott, 45, through to a 14th season in charge, which will see him pass Reg Hickey for the most games coached in the history of the club.

Let me be the first to officially 'melt' :)

F*************CCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!

I told my partner I need to lie down after reading this news. All our good work over the off-season thus far, in changing assistants and bringing in new ones...now it's 3 more years of Scott.

14 years of this. I will have been 21 when he started and 35 when his latest contract ends...that's 40% or so of my life that Chris goddamn Scott will have been the goddamn senior coach of the goddamn GFC.

What the f*ck are we thinking? What happened to 'burnout'? Now it's 2 extra years on top of 2022.

So many questions, so many melts. We are just suckers for punishment.

Bring on the day drinking!!!!

I don't understand why not go into 2022 under the current contract, assess how he is going then make a call on if there is an extension or not?
Because that only works if things go to shit. If things go well you are in strife having an unsigned coach that you want to keep and when you’re trying to win a flag.

Scott and the club have agreed for him to see out the last year of his contract. Not sure whether they couldn't come to a payout agreement in the end, or whether Scott just decided to honour his last year in the end. Apologies for getting the hopes up of people that want to see him moved on, but the fact is a meeting did occur where Scott and the club discussed an early departure from his contract. That is factual information and I certainly stand by what I reported on here.

Personally, I am happy he is staying - I think even though he's clearly burned out, the man is an absolute professional, and I have no doubt he will give us his full commitment and dedication in what will certainly be his last year at the helm. Unless something drastically changes, this gives us a full year to prepare for a life after Scott. Clarkson, Buckley etc will be available and this gives us time to start assessing our options. Those guys will be hungry after a year out of the game IMO.

In any case, Scott is our man for the next 12-months.
I’m afraid I now must officially call bullshit. No crack at you but your mail was clearly wrong.
