14 games in Melbourne with others also at Marrarra and Skilled stadium gives us a good chance at making the finals. Looks promising with the first 3 games over here and the last 7 rounds we won't have to travel either.

Who the @#$@# wants to go to the footy on a sunday afternoon, especially to that concrete toilet of a stadium.
Less Sunday games than last year though ...

Bulldogs pleased with fan-friendly draw
2:09:05 PM Thu 30 September, 2004
westernbulldogs.com.au
The chief executive of the LeasePlan Western Bulldogs, Campbell Rose, has issued the following statement regarding the 2005 draw.

“The wishes of all Bulldog fans are one of the most important considerations when submitting our fixture requests and we are delighted that our fans desire to attend more Saturday Western Bulldogs games is reflected in the 2005 draw.
“Next season, we have 11 Saturday games and nine Sunday games scheduled - compared to nine Saturday and 12 Sunday games in 2004. “We believe that this improved fixture will also assist the Bulldogs in maximising free-to-air television exposure, which was another high priority among our list of fixture requests.

“After playing ‘home’ fixtures on the past two Easter weekend of matches, our round one ‘away’ game on Easter Monday next season is also a positive.

“Again, we sought two interstate ‘home’ games and we are especially looking forward to returning to Darwin in 2005 and further cementing the Bulldogs position as the team of choice in the Northern Territory.

“Overall, the Western Bulldogs are very pleased with the outcome of the 2005 draw.”

.................

Well I don't see this as very fan friendly. When I say I want to go to the footy on Saturday, I (and I think most others think Saturday afternoon). We have only 4 Saturday afternoons and one of those is in WA.

Seven Saturday nights, of which one of our home games is Marrara and two more interstate away games.

This means that I can go to 3 games at my preferred time of Saturday afternoon.

yeah, I may have overacted a bit. I thought unfortuantely most of our sunday arvo games were shifted to saturday night, which is of course, not really any better. Other things to do on saturday night. 7 saturday night games

however, 3 of those are interstate so we possibly get TV coverage for the old video recorder. better for us, and better for the sponsors.

we only really got 4 crappy sunday arvos at the concrete toilet and one at the G

actually only 3 games at the G unfortunately, but 2 of those are in the run home, so at least the boys will be familliar with it come finals time

all in all, probably the best draw we have had in the last few years, but given the crappy draws we did have recently, that istn too hard.

4 games at the G as compared to 5 in 2004.

Round 4 vs West Coast at Subiaco.

Barring injury or suspension, I suppose this will be the boy Grant's 300th.

Well, I dont care, I'll be there. There is NO way I'm missing his 300th.

As for the rest of the draw, pretty much the same as the last few years - dominating the Sunday schedule, one prime time game, very few Saturday arvo games.

Playing Carlton at Marrara is silly. Carlton can pull a big crowd, why waste a home game againt big crowd drawer up there? By all means play a game in Darwin, think the choice of opponents could have been better though.

judging by our recent attendences matty, your in the minority, crap form aside I trhink it does make a difference

Geeze I hate Sunday games and your right stefoid it does make a difference playing games on bl@@dy Sundays. Is the Bulldogs "WISH LIST" able to be accessed because in previous years other clubs have pressed hard in their wish list for less Sunday games with success but never a mention in our wish list of wanting less Sunday games.
After last years draw was released and after reading the dogs wish list which was published in the newspapers, I sent off e-mails and a letter to the club asking for an explaination as to why the club did not ask for less Sunday games and what the clubs policy is on Sunday games, NO REPLY WAS RECEIVED SURPRISE, SURPRISE.

"The Western Bulldogs fixture requests for 2005 can be summarised as:

1Two Interstate ‘home’ games.
2.Maximise FTA exposure by replicating the current AFL Match Scheduling policy for both Home & Away Games by providing 2 Friday night home games and a maximum of 8 Sunday Home & Away games.
3.Round 1 (Easter) Away Match.
4.Two games against Geelong Football Club.
5.No interstate matches on consecutive weeks."

Missed out on that 'wish'. It's a tough slog in the middle of the season.

I might be in the minority here but I bloody hate saturday night games with a passion. Can barely ever get to them and there is no atmosphere about them. Most people between the ages of 16-25 would be out sucking ******** on a saturday night. We have to many for my liking next season.

Why do you want to play 2 games against Geelong?

As a Barwon Bulldog member - I am delighted with two games against Geelong. The first one in particular will be at Skilled Stadium which means we can hold an After match function and raise funds for the Western Bulldogs. Besides which, we've had some close games against the Cats (and winning ones at KP!).
Go Doggies!

I have not seen other clubs wish lists this year but in recent years most clubs actually ask for either no Sunday games or very few. The AFL must look at our wish list of a "maximum of 8 Sunday games" and say bewdy they don`t mind them, lets give `em 9 because no other club wants them.

I will definetly be there also. Will have to keep an eye open for discount airfares. Hopefully we don't go and book the fares and then he gets an injury in the first 3 weeks.
