Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

I've allowed for Easter but this thing needs to get back rolling on, Lenny has been given enough time and i'm sure he'll understand

Miami have already taken a DE and questionably IMO a safety, their biggest need is arguably OT, so here they take the best available at that position

Miami selects...

OT Oneil Cousins UTEP

juddy_Like is on the clock

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

Needs are WR, DT & DE.

FA and Injuries have hit the defensive line hard and Jacksonville Jaguars select

DE Cliff Avril from Purdue

Can play End or at Outside Linebacker so gives the jags some much needed versatility.

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

60- Indianapolis- Curtis Lofton, ILB, Oklahoma

Not many holes in the Indy line-up, and I don't recall them losing anyone other than Utecht in FA (already have the another #2 in Fletcher), so I think LB depth is a good a place of any to start for them.

61- Green Bay- Patrick Lee, CB, Auburn

Our CB depth is pretty average, and as stated earlier both starters are past 30.

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

hmm, 2 CBs in the first two rounds?

highly doubt it, is there a team in recent history that has gone the same position with a 1st and 2nd rounder, regardless of whether they have a second 2nd rounder, the only thing that i could think of would be maybe a OT and OG in the first two rounds

surely the Packers will be targeting a OT at some point as Clifton and Tauscher arent getting any younger and there isnt great depth, safety would also seem to be an area of interest, Bigby isnt really a great starter

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

marcuz is on the clock (and I think I know who he will pick....will PM dspeed my guess)

can remember was when the Cards drafted Bryant & Johnson in the first two rounds. Although they did have an extra first round pick and drafted Calvin Pace IIRC.

It's called hedging one's bets :p

Nah, Ron Wolf did it back in the late 90's (1999), drafted 3 CBs with our first three picks. One was Mike McKenzie (3rd rd), later traded for NO#2, where we selected Nick Collins, another Fred Vinson (2nd) who we later traded for Ahman Green, and Antuan Edwards, who I thought would of been awesome if he didn't do his knee....

Bottom line, if it's good enough for the genius Ron Wolf, it's good enough for me.

Safeties are fine, Bigby is underrated, and we've got Aaron Rouse who is capable of anything at this point, so we're fine at S IMO. G/T was in my plans at some point, but I'd save that for later rounds. That's where the O-Line gems are...

Denver last year went DE 1st Rd J.Moss and DE 2nd Rd T.Crowder.
Denver in the 2005 Draft Drafted three CB in a row our 1st Rd pick was trade to the Redskins 2nd Rd pick was the late D.Williams, 3rd Rd A pick was K.Paymah and 3rd Rd B pick was D.Foxworth. If a team has a big need at a pos it will do this.

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

Justin King, CB, Penn State

Plenty of speed and another great return man which makes a special team a shitload better. If we also get pacman then our cb stocks just went from thin to sensational.

With Chris Johnson and Justin King on the team, Dallas would have a number of possibilities on special teams. I actually think Chris Johnson will end up being the next big thing as far as kick returners are concerned.

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

With Pick 63 The New Engaldn Patriots select

ILB Philip Wheeler Georgia Tech

With the Pats ageing in this position I felt it was important to get someone who can take over from Bruschi and Seau. Would have selected Curtis Lofton with this pick, but he was taken a couple of picks before this selection.

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

Here's the breakdown by position of the draft so far. The breakdown after 62 picks is 32 defence, and 30 offence. With OT (10), CB (9), WR(8), and LB, DE, and DT (7 each) accounting for 48 of the 62 picks.

The supposedly strong RB class has only 5 picks so far, with a weak class of QB (3 picks), Safety (2 picks), TE (2) and OG (2) accounting for the rest.

There have been no Centres taken in the draft to date, and given the dearth of quality choices, I wouldn't expect anything in this 3 round draft.

that's exactly who CONS guessed

anyway, Zarko is on the clock

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

Well, now that LB is taken care of, probably need to take a look at a CB/S or consolidate the secondary...

Safety wise, probably looking at Barrett or Zbikowski... Would prefer a combinatation and variety role... SO with the 64th pick the Giants pick

Mr Charles Godfrey, CB, Iowa

Can easily move into FS (Seems more suited anyway...)
5'11", 4.34 40yd, VERY fast for a 210 pounder... Versatile player... Good acceleration

Not a bad tackle count, this year 9 deflected passes and ranked fifth in the conference with 5 interceptions for a return of 33 yards... His direct opponent all year caught 15 passes for 117 yards, 40 balls caught in his area (Including direct opponents and other WRs) for 300 yards

NO touchdown receptions allowed all year...

Needs help in press coverage though apparently...

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

2 ROUNDS DOWN!!!

Great effort guys, we started on the 6th March, so basically exactly 3 weeks to get through the first two rounds, considering we took 6 days off due to easter that is a cracking pace! Well done to all involved, we may yet still get into a 4th round!

LennyBriscoe is on the clock and i have TGBB's pick ready to go

Re: The Official 2008 BigFooty Mock Draft

57. Green Bay (from Cleveland) (fuey) --OLB Tavares Gooden, Miami
58. Miami (from San Diego) (LennyBriscoe) --OLB Tavares Gooden, Miami

Is this correct on the last update???

Talking of wrong or right, how did we fair last season to being around the mark? Did anyone keep tabs of how far off we measured to the real thing?
