4. port - natanui (need a ruckman to replace lade getting old)

5. essendon - ziebell (need a tough inside mid with good skills to help watson)

6. richmond - mckernan (need a decent ruckman or a chb/chf)

7. carlton - hartlett - (will go hartlett brother at club and he is all class could go earlier though)

8. north - hurley (need a key defender hes the man but also could go earlier)

9. saints - hill (very good player saints will get him)

10. adelaide - trengrove (in my opinion will go to adelaide they r very keen on him apparently)

my top 10 will be differnet with others but i reckon this year will be hard to pick it 20 players could go top 10 so quite an excioting draft let me no wat u guys think?

interesting thoughts, bad attempt

Thats a long list, but most of them are either duds or untried. It's about quality not quantity.

I dont understand why people think we need to draft KPP on the basis that our current lot are unproven. Unless I'm missing something here, drafting a 17yr old does not help that deficiency. West Coast invested heavily in KPP in the super-draft, and there are already signs it's paying off. Last year we added Notte to the mix whom we clearly rate very highly.

Kennedy, Brown, and Notte are there to replace Lynch, Hansen and Staker. Those three are nothing amazing, but you can be sure at least one of them will play out their career in the blue and gold. If we draft another one, how many of these guys are we expected to play? It would be terrible list management. We have to run with these guys now and address other pressing needs like a small crumbing forward, a good quality small defender, and a couple of line-breakers in the midfield.

carlton will NOT go for hartlett. brothers mean nothing,

Brother may not mean ntohing but being close to the best mid in the draft may mean something ;)

You think your midfield is fast? Watson? Stanton? Houli? You have fast bit players, like Jetta and Lovett-Murray, but none of those are actual midfielders. I'm talking about pace between the arcs, and the dons don't have it, they have one of the worst midfields in the league. Don't believe me? Then why did you get routinely smashed in the middle for the first ten rounds of the season? Wasn't your rucks, Hille is having his best season, it was your midfield, which is poor and slow. Players like Watson and Stanton couldn't win a foot race with a tortoise.

Clueless...

Did Andy Lovett just drop off the face of the earth?

Winderlich; Dempsey; Jetta; Davey will all spend time in the middle in the next few years - pace is not an issue.

Essendon could use a ball magnet with good skills and decent pace (Bartel/Mitchell)

Thats not taking into account our holes in defense

Your pace is much better than it used to be, but the problem is they are all half forward flankers.. except for Winderlich, who's just sh**. Why Sheedy continued to draft HFF after HFF is beyond me... midfielders need to be built so they have strength over the pill. None of those guys you've mentioned has a snowflakes chance in hell of pushing a Mitchell, Bartlel or Ablett off the ball. So in big pressure games with lots of stoppages and contested possessions, you're pushing it up hill.

Houli and Jobe go okay I guess.. well sometimes.

Not all midfielders are the same - some are better suited to the stoppages, some are better suited breaking the lines using their pace to advantage

Winderlich $hit? 'Avin a laugh - did you watch any Essendon games at all last year? Unfortunately he's been dogged by injury this season

Since when was Lovett a HFF? He's a full-time midfielder who pushes forward and kicks goals.

Dempsey and Jetta are 20 and 19 respectively, while I do agree that they will not be able to compete at the stoppages against the likes of Bartel/Mitchell thats not what they were recruited for.

We recruited players such as Myers, Lonergan and Hislop for that sort of thing - Myers and Lonergan especially have shown they are very good at getting first hands to the footy - they are all very young and still very raw, so are obviously going to be outmuscled by bigger and stronger bodies.

Using current ladder if Melbourne get Warnock then:
1. Watts - Melb
2. Nicko - Eagles
3. Rich - Freo
4. Hurley - Port
5. Yarran - Bombers
6. Hartlett - Richmond
7. McKernan - Roos
8. Suban - Carlton
9. Trengrove - Saints
10. Ziebell - Brisbane

If Melbourne dont get Warnock then:
1. Nicko
2. Rich
3. Hurley
4. Watts
5. Yarran
6. Hartlett
7. McKernan
8. Suban
9. Trengrove
10. Ziebell

I think Ziebell is a very good chance of going at least mid top 10, think he is a very good player, one of those types that no matter what will be in the best couple drafted when it is looked back on.

Think a lot of clubs down the bottom half of the ladder would be looking at him very seriously..

Its the year of the midfielders and clubs with picks 15 - 20 could still get a great pick of a midfield player.

WA: Hill, Deboer, Rich, Walters (mid/forw), T.Swift
VIC C: Ziebell, Suban, Sidebottom, Heyne (mid/forw) Sheahan (wont be ahead of rich what the hell)
VIC M: Zaharkis
SA: Hartlett
Tas: M.Robinson and T.Salter

theres 14 very good midfielders without knowing much about VIC M or SA and not seeing any talented midfielders form NSW however R.Edrickarama could be cased as a good midfielder. Fill in some more talented mids form VIC M and SA

Rucks: Roughead, Mckernan, Natunai, Trengrove
Mids: Rich, Deboer, Hill, Walters, T.Swift, Ziebell, Suban, Sidebottom, Sheahan, Heyne, Zaharkis, Hartlett, Robinson and T.Salter
Key forwards and Backs : T.Lynch (forw) , Rockliffe (forw), Cornelius (forw/back), Hurley (back), J.Laurie (back), S.Reed (back), L.Johnston (forw), P.Cahill (forw) and J.Watts
small forwars/backs: Jetta, Bennell, C.Garlett, Yarran, C.Pearce (back), Hooper (back), R.Edrickarama.

all quality players, especially the Key Backs/forw, Rucks, Mids should be drafted highly

Don't know how he has been playing (if at all) but Vickery was in the Prospectus top 25...could be listed under ruckmen.

I wouldn't think top 5 as there is a lot of quality at the top end, but a certainty to finish top 10 for sure though.

Can I ask why people are so convinced that North won't go past Mckernan? I know there would be a lot of emotional ties involved but IMO there are potentially a few better prospects, that suit our deficiencies a bit more than he does.

In saying that I did really rate his video but I haven't seen a whole lot of him. And him, Hansen and Petrie in the same side would be some serious contested marking ability in the one team at one time. We'd be a team full of utilities...

Thanks in advance guys.

Ive been super impressed with Ziebell this year i watched him pklay against WA and i thought he was VIC C best player that day and has great leadership qualitys which i could see. A type of captain centre type player eg: Buckley, Hird. Can push forward and has good overhead marking skills he just doesnt quite seem super quick which could hurt him in todays game.

Midfield rankings:
1. Rich
2. Hartlett
3. Ziebell

also a question if you were to choose a pick for S.Hill and N.Jetta and where they would be drafted what pick would you choose. I chose them as the carnival bolters and couldnt have been told i was wrong with the way they have gone. Strong feelings are that N.Jetta will be going to Port or Sydney i here and see.

Yep, they're my midfield rankings as well. Stephen Hill I've got going around pick 15 and Jetta early second round.

are you some AFL scout and are there any that come on here?

Nope, but like to talk about the draft and what I feel will happen come draft day. :)
I'm going to try and get some work experience with some club's recruiting managers and/or player managers next year, and will try and find out some secret info and post them up as soon as the news comes in.

Just send some letters out to several AFL clubs and/or player managers, professional type letters, and it's just a waiting game from then on I spose. Will be pretty tough to go through the ranks though without knowing any players and aren't related to any families heavily involved with the AFL though. Year 9 I am in atm, now come to think about it, I think it might actually be a couple more years away from it. I'll need to get a management degree & law degree I think to be part of that field and to have a chance to become successful. It can be done, but a couple of years of study will be required, which I'm willing to do. :)
