When do you think the AFL Prospectus will be avialble in bookstores m0nty ?? I'm thinking sometime next week....

I will be annoyed if S.Thompson is centre only.

Deledio will be a good buy if he is a forward.

I had around 49k left and now im 198k over!!!

Surely the prices can't be so?

We're getting new figures in from the Prospectus. The new salary cap is $7431000 and the new magic number is 4343. Still sorting out the implications of that.
 
Hmmm....My team fits under the salary cap by around $25,000 so I'm not worried, even if some stuff changes...
 
Are some players really going to be like $65,100 ?? That is what some players prices are, I thought the lowest price a player could be was $69,600 (rookie)

No, thanks for picking that up. No definite number on what the rookie price is yet, I'm assuming it's $70600 for the moment.
 
Okay, I think I've got things under control now. Here's the lowdown:

  • New magic number is 4343 (an increase of 10.6%)
  • New salary cap is $7,431,000 (an increase of 7%)
  • Players who missed all of 2007 have their 2006 average multiplied by the magic number of 2523.5 (ish)
  • Stuart Dew, for some reason, has had $5000 padded to his price (obesity tax?)
  • Nick Stevens' price has been discounted by a flat 30%... this is a departure from previous practice for long-term injured players where the average would be rounded to a discounted multiple of 5
  • No other special rules (that we've seen) for long-term injured players
  • New draftee base price is $83,500, with top 10 draftees getting $4000 extra for every pick higher than 11, up to $123,500 for Kreuzer
  • New rookie price is unknown

Overall, the game is a little harder this year. Probably means you'll have one less premium at the start, although you could probably afford a mid-price improver in his spot instead of a rookie.
 
Supercoach prices shouldn't change much given the way the Champion scores don't change. And I amended my post to say Stevens is this year's Adcock... in the Prospectus they say Stevens is the "bargain of the year".
